Name a specific movie you won't watch for love or money.

I also hate Woody Allen and avoid his movies, but I’d watch 4 hours of him rather than spend even ten minutes on either Gerry, with Matt Damon or Macon County Jail, with David Carradine.

They are both just horrible.

That was me, and I agree with your assessment. It was a powerful movie, brilliantly made, and I will never, ever, ever watch it again.

Boxing Helena.
The Skin I Live In, which just came out this week. I know what happens in both movies, and I am just appalled.

I Am Legend. It’s the kind of movie I should like but I’m afraid to watch it because I know it will get to me.

(My previous choice would have been War of the Worlds with Cruise and I was right, but not due to my objection to watching his movies. I am totally disturbed when I hear a wood chipper now because of the guy getting sprayed by the claw.)

What I mentioned previously were directors who pissed me off. But more in the spirit of the OP, one film that I never, ever, not on a bet, for love or money watch is this one.

No way, no how, not ever, never.

A double feature of In The Company of Men and another LaBute film The Shape of Things together would qualify as the worst date night ever.

This Life Force? The SF film? It’s not exactly a great film but I watched it and can’t remember anything on the same scale as the monstrosities of film that are being listed in this thread. Most people I think would regard it as entirely unmemorable except for Mathilda May’s nudity. Is there something I missed?

Wow, got it in one. I can’t imagine a circumstance that would compel me to watch it, even if all I loved were in peril. If I run into someone who said that they wanted to watch it - I would forever be leary of them.

I am a girl doggy, SerenaPerido. ;)* Papillon* was a great movie. I presume the book was better?

But I came back to this thread to mention that I will not ever, for love nor money, watch any of the Twilight franchise films. Mostly because I don’t want one stinkin’ dollar to go to Stephanie Meyer and, by virtue of that, to the LDS church either. If the woman pays her tithing, I do not want to risk my money ever ending up in their hands. That, and those films appear to be dreck at best.

Also, I will not sit through any movie that contains a rape scene, no matter how it’s presented. There are several films I’d love to see, but will not because of the reported rape scenes.

I generally will not sit through a film if I know the dog dies or is tortured or injured horribly. I broke this rule with Marley & Me and will have to put in a claim for those two hours as well. It was on and I was in front of the TV, and apparently, too lazy to find something else to watch. I’ll try harder next time.

I saw Boxing Helena, so I second your The Skin I Live In. No thanks.

I was unable to watch the original “Girl With The Dragon Tattoo,” and unable to read the book, and will be unable to watch the American remake, for this very reason.

I’ve never been able to watch “The Accused,” either. I did watch “A Clockwork Orange,” years ago, and barely made it past that scene.

Requiem for a Dream.
Any of the *Saw *movies.
Human Centipede 1 and 2.
Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life (because of the vomit scene. I’m not good with vomit scenes.)

I’ve seen *Beyond the Mat *(the wrestling documentary) but I walked out on it and would never see it again. One of the saddest and most depressing films I’ve ever seen.

The great thing about DVDs is that you can skip past the parts you don’t like. Except for Avatar, I haven’t been in a movie theater in years.

It looks like torture porn is the hands-down genre winner. Or loser.

I can’t think of anything I would absolutely positively refuse to watch for any reason. Maybe that means I’m unprincipled (possibly), or am not fazed by blood/gore/general sqeamishness (certainly), but I’m a little surprised at some of the reasons people refuse to watch something (because of how it’s marketed? Really??).

There are movies I really have no interest in seeing (Twilight and its type, Sex and the City, 27 Dresses-type) because I think I’ll leave dumber than when I went in, but if my wife promised me sexual favors or something for going with her, I’d do it. Whatever- it’s just a movie.

I used to be able to tolerate rape scenes – I saw The Accused in theaters, for instance – but something broke in me when I saw Irreversible. I haven’t been able to tolerate them since, even for movies I saw before that and know exactly what to expect. I don’t know why, though it may have something to do with the fact that, when I saw it in the theatre, I noticed a couple of guys who were clearly there just for that scene.

I think The Accused is what broke me. That and the scene in Bastard Out of Carolina.

For some reason, A Clockwork Orange struck me as funny, and I didn’t find that one traumatizing.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo snuck up on me. I didn’t know it was in there! And I had no idea you got a review of that scene later in the movie, but I could see the set up ahead of time and had time to grab the DVR remote and skim past it. Irreversible is the movie I want to see, but I have an idea that it will be really triggering, and therefore, a very bad idea.

I guess what I’m saying is I won’t/can’t sit through those in a theater because I don’t know when they’re coming. With a DVD or DVR, I can at least ff through. Or if I have warning – like I’m with someone who’s seen the movie before – I can take a short walk during the offending scene. I got through Hounddog that way.

Hotel New Hampshire is also to be avoided if you won’t watch rape scenes. What is it with Jodie Foster?

I’d do a lot for love, not so much for money.

I’ve been seeing previews for Jack and Jill. Adam Sandler in drag? I don’t think so.

I can hardly wait for this films to open.

Not because I want to see it. God no!

Because, once it opens, that means I’ll never have to see the trailer again.

Once they start advertising the special, unrated edition on DVD, be sure to post so we know you’re okay.

Always strange to see people talking about “torture porn.” I can’t think of many genres (real or made-up) that prompt such reactions - not just the lofty dismissal of movies one hasn’t seen and is therefore unqualified to comment on, but also insults leveled at people who enjoy them.

As for what movie I won’t watch - really, nothing jumps to mind that I’m fanatically opposed to watching. It’s two hours of my time, not a burdensome moral investment. That said, I’ll probably never finish watching Inception (gave up about a third of the way into it).
