Name box/Go to cell in Excel

A few weeks ago I stumbled upon the “go to” function in Excel - that is, type in C253, for example, if you want to go directly to cell C253, and it would immediately take you there.

Now when I type in a cell name/grid, absolutely nothing happens. And if I look in the Excel help function (which I think is where I discovered it a few weeks ago in the first place) I can find no indication that that function even exists.

Do any of you have any ideas, info etc?

Thanks

In Windows machines, try F5 or CTRL+G.

@DavidNRockies that didn’t work unfortunately and, ISTM now that it’s a different but related problem in that in that doc (the same one that the name box doesn’t work in) I also can’t scroll. However, I also have another Excel doc open and the name box does work as expected and I can scroll. So I assume that there’s some formatting thing that I’ve inadvertently done in one particular spreadsheet. Any advice would be appreciated.

Problem solved. Somehow Freeze Panes had been selected for somewhere way down in the doc. I’ve unfrozen and reset and it now works.

One of my favorite Excel “secrets” is Select a range of mixed data and blanks > Go to/F5 > Special > Blanks and right click one to delete them all. Nice if you need to remove data that pasted every other row or something like that. Otherwise you can do this with Filter etc. it just takes a lot more clicks.
