I think I would find it rather jarring to see “Una Persson” on the SDMB instead of Anthracite. Maybe just because of nostalgia purposes, but I prefer that Anthracite or Anth stays on this board…*
*please forgive spelling errors and typos, I’m writing this without my contacts because my cats somehow lost the case and I’m too blind to look for it myself, and my husband is still asleep.
Huh. It never occured to me that Una Persson wasn’t your birth name.
I like the sound of Anthracite.
Happy 5000, darling!
I like both Una Persson AND Anthracite. I think I like it that you use Una on the UnaBoard and Anthracite here…I’m not sure why, but I just do. Maybe because you serve in different roles in each place…so it makes sense to me to have different user names in each place? Also, Anthracite is a cool name and I’d hate to see it retired.
In any case, you had best not retire from here, or I might have to attempt to drag you back…kicking and screaming if need be . You are a valued member here, and your brilliance is welcome and revered.
Love you, sweetie!
Well, strictly for my own selfish purposes, I would prefer that you remain Anthracite if a name change will in any way complicate efforts to find your posts. But you should do whatever makes you feel comfortable.
And it goes without saying, I fervently hope you stay here. I assume that you would still be on the other boards, but (again being selfish) the SDMB would lose a large chunk of it’s value to me if you left it.
In my mind, I call you “Coal Babe”.
If you change to Una, I still will.
Stay here.
Please.
Thank you.
A) Happy 5k!!!
B) Anthracite here, Una elsewhere
C) Don’t go!
D) Succinct, aren’t I?
Seriously, I mean all the above
Fenris, who’s toyed with, but ultimately discarded the idea of changing his name.
Good for you.
I don’t know if you should change or not.
Stay.
You all make some very good points. It will stay Anthracite here, for the next 5000 or so posts, I hope. Thank you!
Ok, Anthracite: I’m really curious, and Google has been useless. Pray tell, what is this “Riders of the Dawn” board?
I’d suggest changing it gradually - it would give everyone a chance to adapt:
**
Anthracite
Unthracite
Unthacite
Unacite
Unacitesson
Unacitersson (sounds Icelandic)
Unacersson
UnaPersson
Una Persson
**
Just ignore the trifling fact that eight name change requests would royally piss off the admins
Seriously though; whatever you decide, I hope you stick around.
Please don’t change. Anything.
My scorecard is getting tough to read, what with all the name changes. Don’t do it! Please.
“Anthracite” rolls off my tongue in a way that I find pleasing. I personally find it more appealing than just “Una”, and I still like it a bit better than “Una Persson”.
Just my two cents, and worth no more than that.
Una - Oprah.
Oprah - Una.
- Dave Letterman
I wouldn’t change your name.
Una Persson sounds like a very sad night at a romantic Italian restaurant.
Then again, my name is an out-of-date monetary currency, so who am I to talk?
Being a traditionalist I am glad you’ll stay Anthracite.
BTW, I felt 4800 would be a magic number for me and I would feel some kind of orgasmic experience but nothing happened. Then I was away while the board crashed and I returned to find my count was below 4800 and so I would have a second chance for that orgasmic experience. . . but 4800 came and went the second time and nothing special happened. Maybe I just got the wrong number.
I’m weighing in with my opinion here quite late, seeing as how you’ve already made your decision, but I’d like to state for the record that I really like the name Anthracite, yet recognize that I’d quickly get used to another name.
More importantly, I’m glad you’re staying for another 5000 posts or so.
From a newbie who’s always read your posts with interest and admiration.
Now that made me laugh!
A group of people that I know who I employed to help me in case an online problem became an IRL problem. You will not find them listed anywhere.
Yup. Your Lucky Number is 6502.
I also want to thank everyone else for the kind words and well-wishes, without running up my post count too much higher, so I’ll just do it here.
Thanks!
Ok, I"ll weigh in here.
I"m really very bad w/names here. Unless I hit the ‘quote’ button, I’m liable to misspell damn near anyone’s name - my eyes don’t always see the difference between e and a for example, plus, well, hell, you know what happens when brain cells get old, don’t you??
Don’t you??
Damn, I was hoping you did 'cause I forgot.
ANyhow. my point, and I did have one, is that I"ve noticed for myself (other than a couple of tendancies like hitting the " instead of the ’ frequently and forgetting to close parentheses…
short, easy to spell names work best for me when I’m trying to address some one in a thread. So, I was pro’lly one of those who typed “Antra” 'cause I couldn’t trust myself to remember how to spell the rest ( :D) . Fenris, Scylla and mine are easy for me - short, sweet, easy to spell. So, I’d vote for Una if you’re keeping track (and put it in the way so you can search for it, too…).
