In the movie Goodfellas during scenes set in the 60s some of the guys wear dress shirts with unusual collars. The front of the collar meets in the center, covering up the knot. Is there a name for that style?
Joe Pesci has the shirt in this scene

‘Arrow collar’?
I would just call it a narrow collar, as opposed to a wide or spread collar.
“tapered collar”, “spear-point collar” or “Barrymore collar”
Forward-point collar.
was it popular among many people or just the mob?
Why? God-Father Ring around the collar…?
I think in Goodfellas it was mainly Pesci who wore that collar. Maybe the costume people thought it looked best on him.
“Cut! Damn it, Pesci’s necktie is distracting from his face again! Get Costume on the line and find him a tighter collar.”
