What's going on with men's fashion lately?

I’m not built to wear sleek fabulous clothes, but I do like to keep up on what the swells in the big city are wearing.

So what’s new in men’s fashion?

They started wearing those idiotic collar-is-a-different-color-than-the-shirt shirts again.

Baggy clothes are still “in” so you don’t have to be built at all

Shiny wrinkled pants that are too short.

What’s so bad about that? It’s nice to bring a little bit of extra color into the suit IMO. I don’t have any of those but I like to have a little bit of flash in my suits.

And brightly colored socks – green, purple. Striped is good.

Pinstriped suits are back.

All you need are looks and a whole lotta money…

Beware of all enterprises that require new clothes.

For professionals, colorful shirts and ties are the new thing. Pink ties are becoming fashionable. Thinner suits and ties are also becoming acceptable. Although the thin tie fashion seems to be reserved for people under thirty and characters in Mad Men.

Purple and lavender ties seem to be in, now. And I’m also seeing suits, shirts and ties that don’t in any way “match.”

Hidden splashes of color seem to be in. I bought a shirt that is a normal crisp white collared shirt from most outward appearances, but it has a zany flash of brightly colored squiggles running up the inside placket facing (the strip that has the button holes). It’s hidden except for brief times when I turn or lean in a certain way, then the color flashed out at you for just a second.

Aww heck, it’s easier if I just take a picture of it.

I’ve seen quite a few instances of this lately. I think it’s great that men are starting to wear some color for a change.
