Give him an old man name or her an old lady name.
We need more Claras and Mables and Henrys and Harveys etc etc

A fun website to play around with is nymbler.com You can put in up to 6 names that you like and it will give you back plenty of names that you might like that go with your favorites.
I recently named my Sim twins Clara & Nora! Some of the old names are totally gorgeous.
Jackson is an excellent name. You could even call him Jax for short (I’m an SoA fan)! As to suggestions, I love last names as first, so my all rme favorites for either a boy or a girl are Keaton and Camden. Congratulations and good luck!!
We’re having another girl so my thoughts on boy’s names do not matter. Our leading name contender right now is Charlotte.
Please don’t. The child will cringe everytime they realize what the parent did.
Awesome suggestions! I’m so glad I asked you guys!
I’ve always loved the name Evelynn (I love Eve)… but I recently met (within the past year) a girl I despise by that name. I’m so mad that its ruining it for me. I just need to get over it I guess because it does happen to be a family name.
My list of fave girl names so far are (in no particular order):
Evelynn
Elena
Dinah
Lina
Elina
Lillian
Sunshine (I love Sun- like from LOST)
Vivienne
And my new loves thanks to your suggestions:
Beatrix
Julia
Claire
Clara
Jackson is my fave name… all other boy names pale in comparison! But please, keep up the ideas…
I have a friend who just named her new kid Agatha Seraphina. There is much split between love & hate for this name (I’m on the side of love, being a Gril Genius devotee)
Harper.
I know it’s trendy but it wasn’t when I started liking it.
:dubious: Like Mari, Kathi, Sandi, Luci, Traci . . . ?
I’ve always liked Madeline. I know it’s also cookie, but it’s a cool name.
Henry isn’t exactly an old fashioned name right now. Two of them in my Sunday School class of kindergartners.
I think your keyboard is broken - all the "i"s are being converted to “y”.
For the love of all that is holy, please fix it.
Haven’t you heard? That’s how people name their kids these days.
I used to know a Galadriel. She must have picked the name herself, because she was in her late 40s/early 50s when I knew her in the mid 80s, which meant that it was highly unlikely she was named after the character in LotR when she was a baby.
She was a very elegant lady, wife of the editor of the local newspaper who was also a politician. I thought they made a very nice looking couple…until they had a rather acrimonious divorce a few years later.
Go to the Social Security baby name site, look at the Top 1000 names. Pick a first name from the bottom 500 and a middle name from the top 100. That way your child has an uncommon first name that will stand out in a crowd, but a common middle name for a “backup”.
That is my name and I approve. I was named for the goddess, btw which just rocks (though my friends call me Dee).
My favourite girl’s name is Elizabeth (since it is grown up enough for when they are older but can be shortened to any number of nicknames when they are little, in their teens, etc). Since I didn’t get to use it (adopted kids who already had names and all) I give it to you.
My firm belief when giving a child a name is:
Agreed to all. Think about your kid submitting a resume someday, or filling out an application to some Ivy League school (hey, it could happen!). Is the name appropriate for that situation? No? Then don’t give it to your kid. Please!
I thought the rule was that all girls are named either Ashley or Caitlin. Or is that just in Southern California?
Don’t forget Ashlee, Ashleigh, Ashleye, Ashlie, Catelynn, Katelynn, Caitlynn, Katelyn, Kaitlyn, Kaitlin, and Catelin.
Joule (Like the SI unit for energy)
I can’t have any more kids, but If I ever had another girl I would name her Joule.
