Name of a book and it's author

I’m searching for a book and it’s author.
The book has following content: a group of US and Asian soldiers are send to another world where Gods exist and rule the world. During the course of the book the soldiers develop magical powers such as flying.
I read this book a few years ago but forgot it’s name:(

Thank you all:)

Possibly Brian Daley’s *Coramonde *series? A platoon of soldiers in Vietnam find themselves and their armored vehicle in a world of magic and dragons? Some VN soldiers might have gotten pulled through with them, providing hijinks. There are two books, Doomfarers of Coramonde and Starfollowers of Coramonde IIRC. Not Daley’s best works but amusing.

No, the Coramonde books don’t fit the description in the OP; there’s no flying magical soldiers in those books.

Such inquiries often have a few bits garbled, and I can’t think of many other “soldiers in fantasy land” books offhand.

It almost sounds like Pyramid Power and/or Pyramid Scheme by David Freer and Eric Flint, but not quite.

True, but your post then compounded that by positing that perhaps VN soldiers went thru as well, which didn’t happen.

It’s been a while since I read the set - I much prefer his Fitzhugh and Floyt series. As I said, if nothing obvious jumps out you have to throw every possibility at these inquiries, since extraneous details often get dragged in with the recollections. (“Oh, that’s right, the burning clown was in another book.”)

If i remember the soldiers are fighting at the beginning but have to retreat to a cave where they find an altar which suddenly activates an send them to the other world. The altar was activated by an evil god but almost all soldiers escape and meet the good gods

Impossible. Soldiers are never altar boys.

The Crystal Sorcerers and The Crystal Warriors by William R. Forstchen and Greg Morrison. Pretty good as I recall.
