Name of computer maze game

Within 10 years ago, I bought a computer magazine (possibly a UK based one) that had a nice little maze game demo on it. It was for the PC.

The mazes were 3 dimensional, but didn’t have walls - instead it had ribbon-like paths rendered in simple (OpenGL?) 3D with bright colours (and infinite blackness surrounding), that looped up and down and around, so that you could look about yourself in perfect 3D views, see your destination, but not necessarily how to reach it.

Some of the panels of the ribbon path were different colours and represented a change if you walked on them, such as flipping you to the underside of the path, or teleportation to another part of the path (or even a different path unconnected).

When you did finally get to the end of the maze, it showed you going to the next level with a short animation of elevator doors - “going up”.

Can anyone point me to the name of that game, so maybe I can find a copy of it somewhere?

Darn it, nobody knows. I shall go into the West and remain maze-less.

I’ve got this :

and or the Windows 95 screensaver 3D Maze.

But it wasnt a screensaver, was it?

A brave attempt, but no, that’s not it. It had no walls, just a ribbon pathway. Here is a drawing I did of what it sort of looked like.

And no, it wasn’t a screensaver.

mAz lite?

mAz 3.0 full version?

Hey, that’s pretty cool!

But it’s not the one I was thinking of. It was first-person, and a lot less elaborate. It really was just like the pic I posted.

13 years may have passed, and I’m sure everyone was on tenterhooks. I found it. The game was called Get Lost!

I’m not sure if the Game Room existed when this thread was made, but it does now. Moving.

I don’t know whether to be more impressed that you found a 24-year-old game, or that you remembered a thread you posted about it 13 years ago - good work!

Are you playing it again?

I haven’t looked for a downloadable copy yet. I suspect it might not work even if I did get a hold of one.

Someone is doing a remake/inspired by version, but he’s been developing it for about four years and is still not finished.
