Name that cheesy '70 songs in 5 words
Cleaning up some that anyrose collected (and ignoring Andrew Gold, because it’s been stated a few times)…

F1: All of her days have
– John Denver, “Fly Away”
I answered this (sans Olivia Newton John), post #57, not that it makes you any less right.
54F12. Baby, come as you are . . .
– I want to say “You Don’t Have To Be A Star” by Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr., but I dunno…
Absolutely right, including the “Jr.”
Additional lyrics to F2:

“But they tell me that a friend is”
Is it ‘American City Suite’ by Cashman and West?
54F10) Hey, hey, hey. What ya . . .

This one’s been bugging me for a while. …<snip>
I’d posted somewhere earlier that I thought it was Sherry Darling by Bruce Springsteen, but I don’t know if it’s correct.

Biggirl - I think it’s a tougher, and better, challenge with 5 words from anywhere in the song. But it’s your game. Should I “restate” my entries?

Yep.

Anyrose, Sherry Darling by Bruce Springsteen, isn’t what I was thinking of.

Also, I did misrember the line from You Don’t Have to Be Star, but got Spoons what/who I was going for anyway. I thought I knew it, especially since I saw them on a re-broadcast of Soul Train about a month ago. Goes to show you how a misheard line gets stuck in your head.

One of my profs in grad school was in that band. I knew it right away.

Don’t know why I’m survivin’ . . .
If I Can’t Have You-- Yvonne Eliman
As to the first word thing, I was confused. I kept seeing right answers and thinking, “Is that how that song starts?”

yes, but since it’s your game - you get to enforce the rule - or not. Just give the word, and I’ll redo my unanswered entries

That sure sounds like the first line of “Here Comes My Baby” by the Tremeloes, but that was done in 1967. Great song, though!
