Name that fictional ship!

Steve MB and Labtrash nailed 'em. I really should’ve gone with the *Antonio Graza * (an ocean liner) from Ghost Ship, because the *Arctic Warrior * was just a salvage boat or maybe a tugboat, but I wanted to make it harder to get.

Still extant are my Louisa and my QEII questions. And I know of one Doper in this thread who definitely should know the latter… (perhaps he’s been holding off to see if anyone else will?).

USS Nimitz ( I’m not sure if she plays herself in movie)

My personal fictional favorite: Ringle

She does, if the movie you mean is The Final Countdown.

And I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.

My work here is done!

Astarte and Aes Triplex are ships from Heinlein’s short stories, aren’t they? Planetary Patrol craft from Space Cadet, I’m thinkin’?

Has anyone answered the Thunderchild question? It was the British warship which took on a Martian tripod in the original H.G. Wells book War of the Worlds, and also a Federation starship that clashed with the Borg cube in Star Trek: First Contact.

Maybe the only thing that could have saved the Tom Cruise remake of War of the Worlds would have been an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS Thunderchild taking on a tripod off the New Jersey coast. Now that would’ve been wicked cool!

Ahem…post #28.

Yup.

Right you are. Oh, well - at least I got to add the later Star Trek reference.

A few more, if you please…
The Yggdrasill

The Golden Apple

The Agamemmnon

Bright Beauty

Agamemnon - Captain Sheridan’s previous command on Babylon 5.

Ringle - Jack Aubrey’s Baltimore clipper which he won from Heneage Dundas in a backgammon(?) game. Usually under the command of Midshipman Reade.

Yggdrasill - The Treeship captained by True Voice of the Tree Het Masteen in the Hyperion books. (silenus should have gotten this one)

It also was in the TNG Borg two parter.

And there’s also an Agamemnon in The Moat Around Murcheson’s Eye (TMIGE sequel).

Nobody picked up Starfare’s Gem yet.

Hagbard Celine’s submarine in the Illuminatus ! trilogy

Another one :
Britannic

I could be wrong…the giantish ship of Saltheart Foamfollower in The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant series…?

The ship that Commodore Norrington captains in “Pirates of the Caribbean.”

I’m still waiting for an answer for my earlier one:

The Karnak

Dunno, haven’t seen it.

…was called the Leif Ericson. But it was gold colored, IIRC.

Don’t forget these.
