Name That Loon: A Nickname MMP

Supper was good. The temps have dropped below 60, so the house is closed up again. <sigh>

Speaking of critters, hereare 2 of mine in one of their favorite places. Good thing neither of the household humans want to use that chair…

… and it’s time to knit. MWAH!!

Howdy Y’all! Home from men’s night over to the church house. We had twenty* men tonight! I usually plan for fourteen, thus da bear was scramblin’ for extra steak knives. Extra bowls, plates and forks we have a plenty. Fortunately I found six extra steak knives. An addition to tonight’s appetizer of snausages and hot mustard (the MUST have appetizer) was some souse meat. Souse meat is ummm… interestin’. I shall enclose the definition of souse meat in a spoiler. If you look and get all ICK it’s your fault.

The highly seasoned hog’s head cheese is very popular as a cold cut or appetizer. A pig’s foot provides the gelatin that sets the cheese, and vinegar is typically added to give a sour taste. It is a popular Cajun food and is often encountered seasoned with green onions. In Mississippi, Alabama, and other southern states, it is encountered in a spicy form known as souse or less spicy hog’s head cheese.

Get over it! I warned ya! :stuck_out_tongue:

One of my good buds brought a beer for OYKW and me to sample. Abita Pecan Harvest Ale. Quite tasty it was!

And on that note, I shall betake myself to beddy bye shortly.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

My Paternal Grandfather liked head cheese. He was from Georgia or Alabama.

Canes lost, but the tailgate group liked my chili(I made foodies happy!:)) Now I’m getting my geek on with the Science of Doctor Who special.

Two of my cats earned their nicknames from my Indian roommate who confessed that she never leaves an animal name alone. Therefore:
Mia - Meesey-moo
Pitch - Pitch-a-doos
The third, got his nicknames from me:
Rocky - The Rockster, Rock Star, Rocky Rococco, Captain America (the last because he thinks he is a super hero.)

Hard evening of moving furniture and boxes so I can get a couple of carpets cleaned tomorrow. The cats decided to “improve” the smell of the carpets after they were installed and before I got the doors trimmed and hung. Gee, thanks kitties!

I am up way too early.
Of course I will eventually go back to sleep.
But for right now I am wide awake  :frowning:

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis a chilly 47 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 67 for the day. A drastic change from yesterday.

Ok, I got nuttin’. I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Up, caffeinated, off to work.

Blurf.

Anyone have a givadammer I can use?

I get an unexpected day off today. Because people suck and my dog is stupid.

Somebody left a mess of fiberglass insulation discarded on our lawn. I didn’t see him do it, but Winchester must have rubbed up against it on walkies last night. I was snuggling with him on the couch, watching a terrible movie, when I realized that the inside of my elbow itched. Fast forward a few minutes and I see that I’ve got a big, rashy-looking, bumpy patch. It itches and it hurts. I went to go wash it off because I’m rarely allergic to anything, and I notice it’s vaguely sparkly. That’s when I made the connection.

I rubbed Winchester down with a wet towel, threw the couch blankets in the washer and hopped in the shower, and that seemed to take care of me. Problem is that Roomie is violently allergic to that kind of insulation–the hives are so big they can’t even be called hives anymore. So it’s hooky for me today, along with a trip to the self-service dog-o-mat and several rounds of laundry. I can’t be sure what all Winchester touched between 5 pm and 7:30 when I noticed what was up. So I’mma have to strip Roomie’s bed and wash all her stuff because he was probably up there at some point. We’ll also have to make sure the couch is covered for a few days, because I’ve got no idea how to wash insulation fibers off the couch.

But hey–day off! I’ll be done with all that crap by noonish, and I can take a nap. Roomie will be home late this afternoon, and her fresh sheets and clean dog will be waiting for her.

Nope sorry, I loaned mine out to **Swampy **so I am all out too. :D. Must be Tuesday.

So did I! Swampy, you hog!

large blurfage - I have to go for my disability assessment today

Angel, named so because of my son, is not a smart cat.

I’ve had cats, I know people who have cats and as cats go, he’s very slow. You could shake a treat bag for 5 minutes and nothing. Then, a half hour later, he’ll show up with a “hey, where are the treats?” look.

I’ve explained in the past that as a kitten he thought it was fun to hide in the closet when no one saw him. Then, an hour later (when we had all already left for work) he’d start hitting the door with his head to let us know he was in there.
Now, all that is true as is the undeniable fact that now as an adult, the top of his head is flatter than a cats and more bear-shaped. And, well, he’s slow, he’s an Idiot, and his idea of good time is to sneak out while the door is open, chew grass,
and stare vacantly into space like a cow waiting to become Prime Rib.

I call him “Huh? Wha? Huh?”, “Schtoopy-Kitty”, “Dunce-Cat”, “Hell-No Kitty”. “Hassel-Shrek”, “Dim-baugh”, and when he’s sick “Pill O’Really”.

Even stupid cats can purr loudly. They just don’t. know. why…

I’ve not seen my givadammer in quite a while, I’m afraid.

I actually got up fairly early this morning, to take the car in to the garage- typically, after overheating repeatedly on me, it’s not done it once since I booked the car in. Oh well, hope there is nothing really wrong- better safe than sorry if I’ll be needing it to go visit parents for Christmas, that’s about a 6 hour drive away…

Going to do silly things in the park with fire later, so I’m going to make some mulled cider to take down, as it’ll be cooold. Also finally planning on getting round to starting the Christmas cake today; I’m trying to make a gluten free one so Mum doesn’t have to pick between not having one and having a whole one to herself. Hope it works ok!

Dog has been washed, and all the bedding is laundering. Poor guy hates baths, and I can never get him dry enough before we leave. His good-boy-bone has been buried somewhere … probably deep within the blanket I’m sitting on. Stupid idiot can’t just chew a bone–and this one is something he can eat whole and tastes like peanut butter! No, he’s got to carry it around the house for half an hour, cry like somebody kicked him, then bury it in a pile of blankets. If I keep extricating it and handing it to him, the process starts all over. It can take him up to six months to get comfortable enough with a rawhide bone to start chewing on it.

Happy Toosday!

Let’s try this again - for the third time.

It’s a sunny windy 44 degrees outside with a projected high of 51. I finally made it back to sleep but I still feel a bit of a blurf.

Today is pizza day and laundry day. I’ve got lots of laundry today. LOTS of laundry. I’m waiting for my mother and her bf to leave so I can get started. I hope there is lots of bleach downstairs.
I don’t know what I am getting to eat today. Maybe a gyro, I think there will be no more cheeseburgers for me. I’ll have to look up gyro meat to see how fatty is it, but I suspect it’s not too bad.

Geez Drae what kind of ass throws their trash in somebodys yard? I’d hunt their asses down and wallop them, well not now so much, but 200 years ago I would have. It’s nice to get the day off but there are better things to do than laundry and cleaning up a mess.

Today is already promising to be filled with irritations and bullcrap.

Office building holiday breakfast today was kinda disappointing. Good but strange breakfast offerings…broccoli quiche, chicken sausage that was not the breakfast kind, some strange mini muffins, etc. The coffee was good, though. Just not up to years past. There was NO bacon…No BACON!!

But it’s cake day so there’s that.

Chicken Fried Bacon is just that, big thick bacon strips battered and fried. It was served with bacon jam, cream gravy, horseradish sauce, maple syrup and hot sauce. This was the appetizer for dinner on Sunday and I am still happy about it.

Chicken Fried Bacon.

Happy twosday all

I have no pets currently and have always given them lame nicknames. Fer instance Zephram the Pug was nicknamed Zeph. Go figure.

Cheers all, need more coffee

Oh I almost forgot. I am moving again. Just to a new apartment in my complex, larger, hardwood floors and a two compartment sink. I can sorta move at my leisure. Yeah.

Jim

No Bacon? Criminal offense.

I’m at an internet café. Oh cool, this computer I’m on automatically puts an accent on the E in the word café.

I should be getting to work soon.
