Name that movie!!

I got this line froma movie stuck in my head, but I can’t remember which one:

“You jump, and so help me God, I’ll shoot you on the way down.”

Any ideas?

Sure sounding like that first Lethal Weapon movie to me.

But that’s just a guess.

That sounds right to me, too.

Hmmm. I just looked at the scene I thought it was at a screenplay site, and it’s not there.

Maybe The Fugitive?

Not Lethal Weapon. Though I’d be happy to watch it again just to make certain.

(the only scene in Lethal weapon where two people were on something to jump off of was the ledge scene where Mel, sigh, was talking the jumper out of suicide. And he said things like “now, if you jump, I’ll go down with you and then you’d be killing a cop” they did then, jump, but onto the safety thing the fd had rigged up)

Don’t know the movie off hand.

I seem to recall some movie about Morgan Freeman and some other guy and an assasin, and that one scene was on a buolding… I forget any other details… it was like a saturday afternoon special… you know nothing on, turn on Fox and there it is…

Maybe “The Untouchables?” The scene at the end with Elliot Ness and the creepy, reptilian guy in the white suit.

Just a WAG, but is it Fled?

it’s not The Untuchables as Ness pushes the guy off the building. as for the movie I don’t know. doesn’t sound like Lethal Weapon or The Fugative, never saw fled, it’s not Die Hard. That’s all I can think of off the top of my head, nor does the line even ring a bell.

I think it might be from the end of Sneakers.
The part on the roof when Ben Kingley is telling Robert Redford to give him the box.

I think I have it on tape. I’ll check and confirm it.

It’s not Sneakers.

Can’t find the tape so I’ll take your word for it.

LOL, I punched that phrase into the search engine at google.com and got a bunch of walkthroughs for Jedi Knight.

It’s definitely not any of the aforementioned films (* Sneakers, The Fugitive, The Untouchables, Lethal Weapon 1 - 17*)with the exception of Fled, which I haven’t seen. I couldn’t figure out which Morgan Freeman film BMU was referencing since he (Freeman, not BurnMeUp) has 57 “Actor” entries in IMDb.
A search of the IMDb Quote database came up nil, although [MPSIMS] a substring search for “So help me God” did turn up George Burns’ “So help me Me” line in Oh, God! [/MPSIMS].
I also ran “shoot you on the way down” through a multitude of search engines via Copernic with no useful results.

The most similar line I recall is from Beverly Hills Cop when Billy Rosewood compares being pinned down by bad guys to the end of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and Sargeant Taggart says something like “If we get out of this alive, I’m gonna shoot you myself”.

Well if you figure it out please post the answer here because it’s driving me crazy too.

Though I know it didn’t appear in Magnolia, it sure does apply, doesn’t it?

I have the reverse quote, from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid:

Butch Cassidy: Then you jump first.
The Sundance Kid: No, I said.
Butch Cassidy: What’s the matter with you?
The Sundance Kid: I can’t swim.
Butch Cassidy: Why you crazy, the fall will probably kill you.

Can’t guarantee this is correct, but it may be the first Dirty Harry film. Early on there’s a scene where Clint Eastwood, as Harry, has to talk a jumper down off a building; his approach is discuss what a splat the guy will make and how hard a time they’ll have identifying the mess, and so on.

Cheers,
