Name That Movie!

This movie came out in the past year or so. It was basically a music video set to Beatles songs. Does anybody know the name of this movie?

That would be Across the Universe.

It was much more than a music video set to Beatles music. There was a fully-developed plot and characters that would have worked even without any music. The music was a very nice bonus.
Wonderful movie. My favorite of 2007.

In the interest of fairness, I’m obliged to say that this point (bolding mine) is highly debatable.

Needless to say, not even in my 2007 Top 50.

Thanks a lot

I’ve got the impression a lot of people either loved or hated this movie. It didn’t spend much time in theatres, so I’ll have to wait for my Netflix copy to see which way I go.

I loved the movie, but I agree that the plot and characters wouldn’t have worked out all that well without the music.

I think the plot was brilliant. The characters were a little contrived, of course, but what are ya gonna do? I still loved them (most of them, anyway). Somewhere in the top 15 of the decade for me.

ETA: Even if you didn’t like it, you have to concede that it’s way more than just a music video. Especially considering that the songs are covers–and rather original ones, at that.
