Name the actor

Ok I need some help. There is this British character actor that I have seen in a million things. For some reason the only thing I seem to remember is an episode of Babylon 5 when he played an assasin or bounty hunter. The guy had white hair for as long as I can remember. Always remember him with a beard. Very gruff voice. Usually played tough guys and bad guys. He looks something like Joss Ackland with a beard. But it isn’t Joss Ackland. Contest starts now, winner take all. Go!

W. Morgan Sheppard?

Ding ding ding! We have a winner! 14 minutes. What took you so long? Go to the Doper prize closet and pick something out for yourself.

Last night I was in NYC to see Flying Colorsin concert. It was at the Nokia Theater which is a standing venue. While waiting for the concert to start there was this old drunk guy who pushed through the crowd. Shirtless. Face tattoo. Looked just like W. Morgan Sheppard. I gave him a wide berth.

His son Mark Sheppard is one of those guys, too.

He’s also the voice of BBC America. “All new Doctor Who … next.”

By the way, I wonder if the Soul Hunter character was in some way inspired by Adam Warlock. Could just be coincidence.

W. Morgan Shep… ah, phooey.

I had no idea that was his son until I checked to see if Sheppard was the guy I was thinking of. To me Mark Sheppard graduated from that guy status a while ago. He is getting to much work for that both in the UK and the US. He just needs to realize he does an awful American accent.

He does realize it. I’ve heard him talk about it. But when the casting agent calls you and says “They want you for this job, but they want you to be American,” you don’t say, “Well, I’ll pass on this job.”

Well bad American accents are a Doctor Who tradition so it wasn’t so out of place there.

That’s for sure. Even the sterling tenth doctor can’t do one to save his life. The man is extraordinarily talented - otherwise.

I saw that clip of his bid for one of our American television pilots: ‘Rex is not your Lawyer.’

He is a really nice, funny guy, too. Fascinating to talk to. He was a guest at a local Trek convention a couple years ago.
