name the baby and win a prize

You’ve already mentioned Thor. Now for the boys, I like Porter. For a girl, Audrey, Aileen or Jacqueline

Hit post too soon, just my $0.02 cents worth. If you’re really gonna go out there with a name, I would highly suggest it as a middle name. In this day and age, and especially this internet day and age, it is FIRST name, Middle Initial and LAST name.

Woe be the kid who has a fucked up first name like I do. My first name incidentally, is a girls name (with one literary exception from pretty far back in English history). Never used it except on official documents, never will. So, rather than hijack and rant here, I beg you to consider your child’s long term interest.

I mean if it’s Joe Thudpucker Smith, he can always tell people he goes by Thudpucker rather than have it forced upon him.

Can’t go wrong with the old standard - Michael.

[sub]of course that’s my name and I may be a little biased, nah[/sub]

Oh oh, if it’s a girl - Michelle.

[sub]ok ok I’m biased…bite me[/sub]

We’re expecting an arrival a couple of months before yours, and we too are doing the name thing - I think it’ll wind up as a steel cage match - but there are a few names I quite liked and/or found interesting that have already been relegated to the reject pile so I offer them to you.

Girls: Joclyn; Kamaria (Ka-MAH-ri-ah); Lily; Charlotte; Maura; Vivian; Sophia; and Laura

Boys: Ethan; Dallas; Asher; Sawyer; Evan; Thomas; Simon; and Samuel

As for the parenthood thing, don’t sweat it. Do your best and don’t take anyone else’s advice too seriously. We all go into this without the manual. Just love the kid as best you can and that should help a lot.

Oh, yeah, and I forgot. For a boy: Hawken

For some reason recently, I have been considering baby names as well. (Oh, wait… don’t you have to have sex to end up pregnant??! )

For girls I like: Adrianne, Rebecca, and Hayden. I’m also giving you the name that I picked, (although it is an odd name, and I’m sure my parents will freak out.) If I ever have a little girl, (and no, the father has no say! ;)) her name will be Siobhan. (pronounced sha-vonn) I have always thought this was a beautiful name. I also like the name Justa, but that is because I have a wonderful new friend named Justa.

For a boy I like: William, (my dad’s name) Patrick, (my brother’s name) and Kevin (my best friend from high school’s name.) My personal choice for my boy’s name is going to be Holden. I don’t know why, but ever since I was little I have liked this name.

I wish you all the luck in the world. Oh, and be sure to search the SDMB for Scylla’s thread about changing a diaper. It was the first thing I ever read on this board, and I ended up laughing so hard I was crying in my office. I’m sorry I don’t know how to do the link, I’m still just a little newbie…

Good luck!!!
