I recall seeing a picture (from the 1980s IIRC) of an African tribesman being painted using a Coca-Cola bottle. It is or was a famous enough image. Can anyone recall who took the photo?
Was it something like this?
Isn’t that a screenshot from the film The Gods Must Be Crazy? Because that’s the first thing I think of when you say African tribesman and Coca-Cola bottle. But I don’t understand the reference in the OP to “being painted using a Coca-Cola bottle”. How is the bottle being used?
That’s right. It could be that the OP never saw the movie and remembers a publicity photo.
The mouth end is used, block print style, to male perfect white circles on the face after being dipped in white paint, if the OP describes the photo I think it does. Maybe it’s on the new LIFE Magazine website?
Yeah I found reference to the movie when I was googling it but I thought the picture was a separate Nat. Geog. style portrait. However if there is a scene in the movie where someone is being painted using the bottle then perhaps that’s what I’m remembering.
