Name this band!

Okay, about a month ago, I listened to most of a CD by a band called (I thought) Placebo. I happened to listen to a few songs by Placebo today, and they were not at all what I thought I’d heard.

So, what band was I hearing? I thought the name was Placebo, so it may be something close to that. I believe it was a British group, but I could be wrong. The CD was their second, I believe, and it was interesting because all of the songs together told a story (the singer was travelling around the world, meeting different girls?).

The music was light and perky (I think “bubblegum pop” would be appropriate here). It was danceable enough to be played in a club (there was a good, distinct beat), and almost al of it was distinctly … happy.

Does this strike any chords, ring any bells? Can anyone help me out?

[sub]Note: This is in IMHO, because I figured replies would start out “IMHO, the band you were listening to was …”. Mods, please feel free to move it if I’m wrong.[/sub]

Placebo is rocky, mostly. The band consists of a Brit, an American, and a Canadian IIRC. But they’re London-based.

Thanks, Coldy. I was hoping somebody else would respond to, before I had to return and post.

Placebo is … not quite as happy/cheery/perky as what I’m looking for. I like rock, and I’m not saying Placebo’s bad, they just don’t seem to be IT.

Any more thoughts, folks?

Maybe you wanted Prozzak, and got a placebo instead?

This page has some sound samples you can listen to.

I think lesa hit it. Prozzac’s last album was that kind of format, and the lead singer (well, his character anyway…as I understand it, both of the guys in the group are American) has a British accent.

One song was “Sucks To Be You” if that helps.
