Name this movie (Jimmy Stewart/Glass eye)

My brother swears he saw this in a movie…rings absolutely no bells with me.

In what movie did a character take out his glass eye while reciting a bible verse (about “if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out”)?

Probably a Western; probably Jimmy Stewart.

“Fool’s Parade”

In the same movie, Strother Martin, or someone like him, has a great money-making idea about recapping shoelace aglets (although he didn’t actually use the word).

IMDB will give more info, of course.

The movie you’re thinking of is called “Fools’ Parade,” and it came out in the late 60s or early 70s. I remember a very young Kurt Russell was in it.

What did he call the glass eye? Tyge?

That would be the 1971 movie Fool’s Parade. Jimmy Stewart, Kurt Russell and, if I recall, Strother Martin are three paroled convicts who are planning to go into a legitimate business; for some reason they’re being opposed by George Kennedy, who plays a corrupt warden.

Stewart’s character had done several decades in prison for bank robbery, and was a specialist in using dynamite, which might account for the glass eye. I remember a scene where he gets them out of a jam when a nervous young cop has a gun on them, by reciting that Bible verse and plucking out his glass eye, while doing a pretty convincing insane-preacher act. Scares the hell out of the young cop (or deputy).

Dang. That was quick. Muchas gracias.
