Name this tune! (Maybe from Bugs Bunny?)

Hi all. I’ve known this tune all my life, but I have no idea where I know it from or what it is. I’ve tapped out the melody here to create a midi file. This sounds too dirge-like, though – the original sounds like a bouncy, vaudeville-esque intro number (much like the theme to the Bugs Bunny / Road Runner Hour, aka “On with the show, this is it!” – which it actually kinda resembles, at least the first few bars).

Be aware that the last two measures of my midi are total approximations of the shape of the tune; the notes themselves are almost certainly wrong. My memory fails me on the exact notes, alas.

Also, the tune repeats after the last measure.

So from this admittedly really poor description and rendition, can anyone figure it out?

Edited to add: I used C Major as the key, with the first note of the melody starting on C itself. Just in case that helps.

Just to clarify, is this the tune you’re talking about?

That’s the little tune you hum when you’re doing a “magic show” for your [del]friends[/del] disciples.

I’m not positive, but I think it fits the bridge from “That’s Entertainment”.

Heh, simulpost!

It’s “Fine and Dandy” by Kay Swift.

Oh HALLELUJAH! The SDMB hasn’t let me down. And those clips are hilarious – I must say, it’s nice to see I was just as “accurate” in my rendition as Jesus Himself is.

Here’s Django Reinhardt with a more traditional rendering, and the Dorsey Brothers with an even more classic version.

Of course I’m still wondering where I know it from, but if it was used in That’s Entertainment, that could be it. I loved those movies growing up.

Thanks a million, guys!

Art Metrano, best known as the hapless Captain Mauser in the “Police Academy” films got his start doing dubious (translation - nonexistant) magic tricks on “The Tonight Show” while humming “Fine and Dandy”. I remember it as a kid - always made me laugh.

Edited to add he apparently sued the “Family Guy” folks - here’s a link on TMZ - Magician Claims "Family Guy" Stole His Act
