Name this very familiar tune

In the latest episode of Mad Men, about 12 minutes in, Don and Bobbie are traveling by car and the radio is playing an easy-listening tune I’ve heard about a million times in all kinds of circumstances, but never learned the title of. It sounds like it’s being played by the Mantovani orchestra or some such. Can anyone clue me in?

I’m going to guess Clair de Lune, simply on the “heard about a million times in all kinds of circumstances” line. Never seen the show in question, though.

No, that’s not the one.

Found it ! Apparently it’s the theme from A Summer Place.

“Rio” by Duran Dur… oh, never mind.

[cue Jasper Beardley] the the-e-e-me froma Su-u-mmer’s Pla-a-a-ce.

Wasn’t the theme from Summer Place also in Animal House?

They played that too. But only once. In 1960. For about twenty minutes.

That didn’t sound familiar in the least. Where might I have heard it?

Off the top of my head, it’s in Ocean’s Eleven and The Right Stuff.
