Wow! I dont speak a lick of Swedish, but this lady’s vocal chords have my body flushing with boyish delight. Her voice truly inspires me.
The lady I’m praising is Nanne Grönvall. She’s a famous pop singer in Europe I assume, but unknown in America (at least to me.)
I think she’s an alto, but whatever her range is, it’s awesome. She sings pop mainly, but her style varies from ballad to rock to pop.
What do you Dopers think? Anyone else familiar with her? Am I alone in my obsession with this Nordic Muse?
Here are some links to her songs on Youtube:
Hall Om Mig
Det Vackraste
Evig Karlek
Oh, and here’s her Wikipedia entry.
I’m swooning with musical delight
I get one bump, and dag nabbit I’m going to use it.
Geez Louise people, NOBODY has a comment on this Venus’s music? I am shocked.
Being Swedish, I’m familiar with her. Don’t have anything against her, but she’s nothing special. We have lots like her. Being able to understand the lyrics probably doesn’t help, either.
By the way, she is not the singer of “Det vackraste”. She wrote the song for Cecilia Vennersten. Definitely her best work, leagues ahead of anything else I’ve heard of her.
She has the occasional local hit and I think she holds the record as an artist for entering in the local competition for the Eurovision Song Crapfest. But she’s nothing special. She’s quite good at singing, but I think her weird gnomish looks and the fact that she’s really tiny has prevented her from becoming a bigger star. Not that I think it matters, I’m not into her music, but looks do play a part when marketing a singer.
She’s 45, and will never be hungry, being married to a guy whose father is one of the B’s in ABBA.
