Nanny Ogg's Cookbook

I haven’t gotten my copy yet but I need some opinions: is it suitable as a gift to someone who hasn’t read Discworld books before, or do you need to be familiar with the characters to enjoy it? I don’t have time to check it out myself before it’s too late for Christmas.

If you’re unfamiliar with Terry Pratchett’s Discworld, then most of the humor in the book will go over your head. I would recommend that you only give it to a Pratchett fan. However, the recipes in the book are real and you can simply buy it as a recipe book, but that is only about one-third of the content.

I agree with lumpy. The special quality of the book is frankly accessable mainly to Pratchett fans.

Yea, if you don’t know Pratchett, the recipes for things like Rat On A Stick will seem weird. Not funny.

OGG SMASH!!!

Thanks! I’m glad I asked.

Given Nanny’s preference for spirits, shouldn’t that be OGG SMASHED!!! ?

I especially enjoyed the section on etiquette. I just wish I could remember lines from it right now.
