NaNoRantMo (November Mini Rants)

To the assholes selling their houses on Trulia.

Before you take photos of the house you are trying to interest me in, you might want to clean it. At the very least, out some shit away.

annoyed by all the attention and touching by an attractive female coworker who is married. Let me the hell alone

I didn’t realize that following the traffic rules would cause some old guy to flip me off. I guess the king of the road needed to get to Wendy’s in two seconds.

I’m at work alone and can’t concentrate. Started physical therapy yesterday and my knee hurts today. I’m hungry and there’s nothing here to eat. The events in Paris today have me upset. Lacunae’s events today have me upset. A new parking garage in my neighborhood had 5 cars set on fire this morning and that’s bothering me. The trains stopped running to my stop for the weekend and I have to take the bus home. I’m not getting anything done. I’m leaving early, stopping at the store, and getting junk food.

I GET IT. The new “chip” credit card is more secure.

Is it too much to ask it just be implemented uniformly at all places that accept credit cards??? And be a LITTLE faster???

I have this little fucking MasterCard with a chip and feel like Im walking on eggshells everytime I pull it out of my wallet.

I don’t know whether to swipe it or stick in the chip reader; I usually swipe it, 50% percent of the time to be corrected by the cashier that I have a chip and it needs to be inserted. You know, the cashier who looks at YOU like YOUR the dummy? Gee, Im sorry, how do I know?

Because . . . . . GOD FORBID you try to be proactive and stick the chip into the chip reader and then only to be informed condescendingly by the minimum wage idiot cashier that the store’s credit card machine doesn’t accept chips YET, snd you need to swipe your fucking card. IE “were only a billion dollar company but we haven’t bothered to get up to date with technology that was announced, I don’t know, a year ago? So swipe your card, you DUMBASS.”

But lets say its the chip reader. You put it in, and its 5X SLOWER than the swipe method. The machine reads “Do Not Remove Card”.

So, you drift off.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Then the cashier wakes you up, 20 seconds later, and tell you to take your card.

The machine has at the BALLS to say this:

“Don’t FORGET to take your card.”

Don’t forget?

DONT FORGET???
.

.
.
YOUR CONTRAPTION JUST TOLD ME TO NOT REMOVE MY CARD!!!

FUCK YOU!!!

BTW this is all between being asked if I have my Shoppers Card, do I want to donate a dollar to Saint Fucking Jude, and if I want me receipt emailed or printed, or both, I choose emailed only to have a half a Redwood worth ofd coupons dumped on my hand anyway.

CAN I PLEASE JUST PAY FOR MY SHIT AND GET OUT OF HERE??? JESUS FUCKING CHRIST WITH THIS SHIT!!!

AAAAARGH!!!***:smack::mad::smack::mad::smack::mad::mad::mad:

Well, every single thing you says is true, but dude, chill!

I pit the fact that now that I’m retired and don’t have to get up early in the morning, I can’t seem to sleep through the night. After three hours or so I have to get up for an hour or 90 minutes (note my post time here) and then I can go back to sleep. Just because I’m not sleep deprived doesn’t mean I want to go through this several times a week.

I was having a beer after work and someone walked into the bar and asked the 'tender to put on a news station. Paris was just happening. Oh my god.

It wasn’t even ten minutes before somebody asked if we could go back to hockey, a replay of some Penquin game.

I’m sorry so many people are having really, really bad times. :frowning:

I’m sorry to hear that; I came in to post that my knee hurts like the dickens. The last steroid injection didn’t work. I see the doc in 10 days. It’s not a big deal in the scheme of the world, but it sucks.

Start hitting the ATM and pulling out some cash before you go shopping.

Seriously, the new chipped cards won’t give you the option of swiping them in a POS device that has the chip reader? That’s a pretty fucked up roll-out of the tech.

LOL, that’s what I go through when I go clothes shopping just too many damm questions and just can’t pay for my stuff and be on my way out the door.

All that do you have email or are you a member of our such and such club? Give me my shit and let me leave please

That’s kind of the point of having chipped cards, so that you would use the chip instead of the magnetic stripe. They still allow swiping because a) not all cards have been replaced with chipped cards yet, or b) the stores don’t really know what they’re doing.

I went to the grocery store, where the readers are equipped for chips but don’t work. So I stick the card in and nothing happens. Oh, have to swipe because the chip part isn’t working. Then go to Target and swipe first because that’s what’s in my head and it makes a loud, obnoxious BEEP at me. Since it’s a chipped card, THIS reader won’t take a swipe at all.

It’s like the press green for debit some places and red for debit at others. It would be nice if they were standardized.

Believe it or not, the corporal is going home from the hospital today. He’s proven that he’s tougher than a .380 to the chest, but it remains to be seen whether he’ll be tougher than his wife. Once he’s recuperated enough, she’s probably gonna beat the tar out of him for not wearing his vest Friday! (He’s old enough to know better, by a long shot!)

Great news!

(saluting)

If they don’t, that’s a problem with the reader’s program. Each added reading tech is exactly that, additional.

Good to hear about your friend’s release, Lacunae.

Why should I? My credit card worked perfectly fine before. Its 2015, get your act together, credit card and retail industries.

HURRAY!!!

Tough wives do help in the recovery process. Look at how well Tony is doing. (Yeah, I know that he’s not going to ever be 100% again, but I’m sure that he’s doing much better than he would have without having you by his side.)

My rant isn’t cat related this time! While I know that there are good lawyers out there, I love ours, most of them just suck. I was innocently sitting at a stop light when I got rear-ended. The light had just turned green, but I was watching to be sure that the folks who had the red light actually stopped before I stepped on the gas. It was only a 2 or 3 second delay. As you all know, sometimes people don’t clear the intersection right away.

Apparently, the jerk who hit me thought that I should have instantly got out of his way and is now suing me for the damage to his truck.

I’m fine, the car did its job and protected me with its body. Insurance is a pain in the butt. Our lawyer is a badder junk yard dog than the one who accepted the job for the jerk. Its just a pain in the butt. And that lawyer who thinks that throwing lawsuits out right and left in hopes of getting money is a jerk and an asshole who deserves all of the hatred that lawyers usually inspire.

I used to have a problem with mice getting into my cold frame and eating plants or digging up pots in which I’d sown seed, so I started setting mousetraps to catch any rodents that wanted to spend their winter vacation in there.

I checked today, and the first four traps all had the peanut butter bait neatly eaten out of them without triggering the mechanism.

The last trap was a different model. It did not work out well for Mousie.

Mua-ha-ha-ha-ha…

I don’t think so, based on my experience with readers. Since I have had my chip card, the only readers that will allow a chip card to be swiped are those that don’t have the chip reader activated (or don’t have it at all). You can still swipe a non-chip card, although we aren’t supposed to be using them any more.

I fully agree that the stores where the chip reader is not activated are lame x infinity, but this is the world we live in. Giving oneself apoplexy about it seems counterproductive.

Interestingly, when the location doesn’t have customer card readers so that you have to hand your card to the clerk to be processed (e.g. the coffee shop I went to today) are still swiping regardless of the type of card.

eta: just noticed your name, so just to clarify my experience is entirely in the U.S. It may be different in Europe.
