NaNoWriMo is coming

Day 1, and 1,668 words down - I’m on target. Woohoo!

Starting was a bear, but once I finally did it started to flow. We’ll see if that continues tomorrow. So far I’m worried that it’s a little too static and internal - if it gets to be too much, I’m going to have to mess this universe up a little bit.

Yay! 3,049 words. More later.

Some of the Portland folks are posting an itty bitty excerpt of our work every day on the FB page. I highly recommend this.

Each night, I also want to do a PS image of the day’s work. Nothing fancy. I may post links to some here, if they turn out well.

Why does my brain hate me so much? Why can’t it just do as it’s told? I really need to work on the other two projects (Porn and White Knight), but I finally got all the stuff for the Superhero Romance typed up. 15,500 words. Since the 19th. If I keep this up, Nano should be no problem (that’s less than 1200 words a day, but I skipped some days.)

I really do want to finish the porn thing so I can be done with it (although I have a couple of short dirty stories I’d like to do as well).

I went with the zoo story. So far, it’s a little rehashing of the Irwin family’s imagined history, and an intro to the now adult, and burnt-out, daughter. Liking it!

Alright, I’m doing it. Yllaria’s words have emboldened me. And oh crap! I’m already a day behind!

I’ve been writing but if I’m trying for an average daily goal I don’t think it’s going to happen. I spent a lot of time thinking yesterday. I only wrote 160 words but they set a foundation for that character. I’m mostly doing character studies but they will, as they often do, merge for an event. My biggest annoyance is that I don’t know if I want to write in first or third person for each character. I did think of splitting it up between the two but I don’t know… it’s been done to death, but who cares? Nobody’s reading it but me and my “buddies”.

I currently have my Word file of my novel open, and I’m procrastinating by posting on StraightDope instead.

Since the four writing projects I’m undertaking don’t fall into the NaNoWriMo criteria, I’m doing it a bit more informally, and while I don’t hope to tally the necessary word count, I still want it as a way of lighting a fire under me so will be keeping track of each separately:

*Screenplay
*Poetry
*Blog post
*Movie reference book

I’ll report my first word tally after the weekend

I spent this morning catching up on my word count for yesterday and it’s looking good for getting to today’s goal.

The kid insists on being fed, several times a day!

Even my mother told her to get up and feed herself - “You *know *what she’s like in November.” I’m pretending that was supportve!

Porn! Yay! (waves the NC-17 flag)

I’m doing the 30 Covers in 30 Days challenge. Here’s #1 from yesterday!

DT: Day One

I am so failing. I don’t think I’m going to make it this year–too many distractions from the new WoW expansion. But I’ll try to get at least a few thousand words done before the deadline!

I’m a little behind, thanks to hosting a Guy Fawkes night. I should be able to catch up.

My kid has a day off school on Friday, I’m going to ask to use a day of my (abundant) time in lieu, so I can cough cough spend the day doing fun stuff with her.

Y’all can make it! Yay! (Waves Happy NaNo Encouragement Flag.)

And on that note…

30 Days of NaNo, 30 Covers of Death Train: Day 5

A few caveats. This is the creepiest cover ever, and children need to NOT read the quote for the day. Although it’s going to get so much worse than this.

I was on a roll late last week, then went to my sister’s and ended up with the stomach flu so got behind. I caught up today and am now sitting at 8,300 words. I might get some more in tonight.

I’m behind. But I’ve been writing on/in so many different devices/programs that I can’t tell how behind I am.

I’ve been enjoying the experience, though, and I refuse to worry over output. So it’s still a win.

I’m still on track through the first five days. Woot!

Behind, but only by a day. I’ve arranged a day off on Friday so I’m planning on at least keeping within touching distance till then and working on a wordy nest egg over this weekend, cause next is another busy busy time (two birthdays, three cakes).

A new cover for the second NaNo book this month: Sex and the Single Devil. (working title only, due to pesky copyright issues!)

And there’s an excerpt. Children-- PLEASE do not click on this. I really mean it. Grownups only.

Thanks to staying up late to watch election results last night, I was able to crack 11,000 words. Woo hoo! My husband won’t be home the next two evenings so I should be able to get a lot done after my daughter goes to bed.

I haven’t typed up the little bit I’ve written this month. I’m trying to catch up on the 30 Characters Challenge. I have two done, one almost done, and three more started. Something’s going to have to give…
