I really loved Napolean Dynamite. I enjoyed the performances and the costumes and I laughed through the whole movie. The half full theatre (suprising, I thought Spider Man 2 would steal all the crowd!) broke into applause at the end of the movie.
Maybe the people who couldn’t get into Spider-Man 2 decided to go to Napolean Dynamite instead. What else was playing?
That said, I’ve heard good things about Napolean Dynamite. It sounds like a movie I’d like. Unfortunately, it very likely won’t be coming to our cinema. And I rarely rent movies, so I’ll have to wait until it’s shown on Showcase or Bravo.
I saw the previews and laughed. I have no clue what the movie’s really about but it looks good. Unfortunately, it’s not out here yet, but there’s a sneak preview the 14th at the ritzy theater a few towns over, which my girlfriend and I plan on attending. Glad to hear it’s good.
I concur, I say no deep racism in this absolutely quirky, goofy movie. If stereotypes are racist, well, okay, but writer’s everywhere develop characters based on stereotypes.
