Nashville (season four)

Well, they’ve dumped a bunch of characters who weren’t working and are trying a bunch of new characters, so maybe they’ll sort it out.

Thus leading to a constant exchange of “Who the hell is that?” and "Damned if I know " between myself and the Wife.

I thought Vida was an interesting character then who knows what happened and she disappeared.

I also thought Maddie ignoring Daphne had some potential: Daphne was upset because Maddie was spending all her time with Cash and not talking to or singing with Daphne anymore. I was looking forward to a talk between the two of them and Rayna and a sappy scene where Maddie apologizes and Daphne’s happy again. Nothing! Poor Daphne’s an afterthought these days.

I agree, they need better pacing. Let her live in her car for a few more episodes.

And from looking at the previews, it seems pissed off, irrational Deacon is set to return.

I actually enjoy Layla’s story-lines. Can’t catch a break in the music business, falls in love at the drop of a hat with anybody, Publisher’s Clearing House comes to her door asking for directions to the neighbors.

I have to admit, I’m really torn about this show.

I loved the music in season 1 - I have a lot of those songs from the soundtrack in my library now, either from the Nashville cast or the original artists. But when T Bone Burnett left the show after S1 the music got really uninteresting. Then the storylines went crazy, and I left the show some time late in season 2 or early S3. So I’m sure I don’t even know a lot of the characters any more.

On the other hand, as a Nashville area resident, I love having this hour-long tourism commercial on ABC prime time every week. Come to Nashville! Walk around SoBro (south Broadway)! Visit the Bluebird Café! Enjoy the pedestrian bridge! Gawk at the Batman building! SPEND ALL YOUR MONEY!

Seriously, ya’ll come and visit. We’re just like those people on TV, I promise!

Emotionally ADD but with great hair?

Jesus. That move of Deacon’s went way beyond “impulsive” to “seriously stupid.” I mean, as in unintelligent, which I’d never thought of him as being.

This week’s episode is THE KESHA EPISODE, so I’ll be watching the show for the first time.

Prepare yourself for all kinds of soap around the singing.

Layla got boring with the whole Avery thing. :frowning: I hope now that A and Juliet are over(?) she can get better storylines rather than being support staff.

Yes, Deacon, what the HELL?! He doesn’t need alcohol to make really bad decisions! Rayna had me in tears when Maddie walked out of the courtroom. Here I thought I’d gotten cynical about it all.

So how does that work if you own a business with someone and they take out a restraining order on you?

But Deacon, man what were you thinking was going to happen?

I hope Rayna follows through on her [strike]threat[/strike] promise to blackball Cash in the industry. I want to see the claws come out.
Actually a better revenge would be for Rayna to make Daphne a star at Highway 65 and let Maddie hook up with a sleazy management team and get taken for a ride.

Looks like our favorite soapy music show has been canceled. So the season final on May 25th will also be the series final.
I hope they don’t leave a ton of cliffhangers.

I can’t say I blame them, this past season has been pretty awful. (Whoever thought up and approved the Maddie storyline made some giant missteps.) I suppose I’ll finish the show out, but they’ve put the show and characters in a place where I won’t miss it at all when its gone.

I’ll miss it for what it was in the first season. They hardly have any music now.

I don’t like where they took Maddie, either. I’m a sap but I hope everyone lives happily ever after. Except maybe Deacon. I’ve had enough of that “aw shucks” idiot. It’s a shame what they did to his character.

Yeah, I’m also watching mostly out of habit at this point.

There’s no way they’re going to wrap everything up in two more eps, esp. if they didn’t know they weren’t going to be renewed.

I don’t know why we had more time until the end of the season, but you’re likely right that they won’t wrap up anything. They’ll probably just leave us with a cliffhanger. We’ll have to write the end of the series ourselves, here!

At this point I would be fine with a “Rocks fall, everybody dies” ending.

Except for Layla. She needs to be destroyed by fire.

Agree on the music, and the music business storylines, as well. Now, it’s all just horrible, soapy muck.

Nearly all of the characters are now miserable, shallow, mean and unsympathetic. Deacon and his former bar owner buddy are the worst, but so are all of the rest.

I did read that the city of Nashville is trying to get another network - probably one of the cable channels - to pick the series up for next year. The city loves the publicity. I suppose this would have to be done very quickly.

Yep, the city is working with the production company (Lionsgate) to find another home for this weekly 60-minute tourism ad. And I don’t blame them. I read the other day that hotel rates in Nashville right now are higher than those in New York, and our housing market is on fire. Not all due to the show, of course, but syndication has brought in fans from all over the world to our humble city on the Cumberland and even now it is just starting to be broadcast in parts of Asia.

So there has been talk on local media about the show possibly getting picked up by Hulu, where it is apparently one of the more popular streaming shows. They are also apparently courting cable networks like CMT and TNN.

TNN would have been a perfect fit, too bad it no longer exists
