I have a feeling Luke would stomp on his own liver before giving it to Deacon.
My bet is Deacon is saved by his daughter Maddie.

Juliette’s an idiot.
Move in with me! We can have your stuff here this afternoon!
Avery: Cool!
[stuff arrives]
Juliette: Wait- you have stuff? Why didn’t you tell me? It will never fit, plus it’s all ugly!
:dubious:
This is my guess as well. Plus it adds to the DRAMA by putting Rayna into the position of objecting to the idea of putting her daughter at risk even if it’s to save Deacon.
This show is so Soapy. I still watch it about every other week and I don’t even feel like I have to go back and watch the episodes I missed.
I am also glad that Rayna called off the wedding. I didn’t get that there was any chemistry with her and Luke and something about Luke didn’t sit right. I thought it was going to turn out to be abusive but I see they are using that plot elsewhere.
Questions from tonight’s episode:
If Scarlett is AB, doesn’t that mean her mother has to be A, B, or AB? And wouldn’t that make her mother not a match for Deacon’s O (actually, since Deacon is an O, doesn’t that mean Scarlett’s mom has to be A or B - still, not a match)?
Is that woman Jeff’s secretary or is she an executive? And if the former, why is he asking her for business opinions on how to find and launch talent? And if the latter, why is she taking phone messages for him?
I took it that she was a secretary and he was just bitching out rhetorical questions because he was desperate. He didn’t really want her advice.
The soapy thing would be for her to be an undiscovered star, but he already said 20 was too old for him. Which made me think “Wow, he is so out of touch that he thinks teenagers are the ones who still buy albums these days? He needs to market to old people who listen to country music and still haven’t figured out the internet.”
I did love the final resting place for the chair. Might have had a wee tear in my eye at that… ![]()
I think you are correct. Deacon’s sister could be an O however, she could then not be Scarlett’s mother. However, she could be an A or B and still be Deacon’s sister and Scarlett’s mother but then she wouldn’t be a match for an O type. I think they trod into daytime soap territory and said “screw the actual facts, we want drama!” and they gave Scarlett a type they knew wouldn’t match so they didn’t have to wait for testing but they didn’t bother to check the facts beyond that.
I found this link, there’s a calculator at the bottom of the page where you can punch in a child’s blood type and one parent and get the possible types for the other parent. You can also put in two parents and get the possible types for the child. There is no way for Scarlett to have a parent with the O type. Unless they are planning to play this out later and have Scarlett get curious about this and then find out that her mother isn’t her mother, maybe her mother swiped a baby or it’s the old “baby switch” plot.
Or, they just didn’t bother to actually research blood types and how they work.
So – is Teddy going to let Jeff blackmail him?
Why can’t Scarlett’s dad be AB too?
Because, according to the site I linked to earlier, if Scarlett is AB and one parent is AB, then the other parent is either A, AB or B. None of those would be compatible with O.
I know, it seems so ridiculous since one episode earlier Teddy halted the police investigation into Jeff giving pills to OD girl. They should just blackmail each other and call it a wash.
3 wows from me last night:
I hope so. Juliette is a joke and it wouldn’t bother me at all if we just never saw her again.
Loved Rayna kicking butt and taking names.
By having him hook up with Layla, obviously.
I don’t think he’s going to cheat. I’m happy we’ll be light on Juliette for a while, since the actress is so pregnant – the mini-scenes ending with “where’s the remote” were funny, though.
What about Scarlett and the oncologist hooking up? Doesn’t “don’t date patients” extend to “don’t date patients’ family members”?
Totally called that one.
I didn’t care for abuser man getting a settlement out of his abusee. I can think of better ways to have resolved that one. So they gave him half a mil and 25% of her first album to go away? Fine make a P.o.S. album in 45 minutes of her playing a kazoo, release it, and get on with the real album. Or pay the girl the half mil to sit and wait then drag the legal stuff out so long that abuser man can’t pay his lawyer and it gets dropped. Isn’t that how corporations handle that anyway?
Didn’t her first album come out previously? I thought she was working on her first album for Rayna, but not her first album overall.
Anyone still watching?
Since Nashville has been renewed I guess we will have to wait until fall to learn what bad news the doctor has. My guess is that it’s actually Scarlett’s mom that has died. This will allow for some survivor guilt on Deacon’s part and just plain guilt for Scarlett and Rayna.
Couldn’t care less about Teddy and laughed to myself when everyone turned away from the TV when the doctor came in and missed Teddy’s televised perp walk.
I don’t understand how Juliet can sign with another label because wasn’t she already signed with Rayna and doesn’t that sort of thing get you sued?
Good for Will for finally growing a pain but other than that I really don’t care about anyone else. Frankly, I think I only still watch this show for Scarlett and Gunnar’s songs together.
Liked their duet last night, which reminded me a lot of something, but I don’t know what.
Nice set of season-ending cliffhangers – glad Will came out instead of dragging that on any more, and agree with your other comments/guesses.
Glad they’ve sent Juliette back to Crazyville – wonder where Avery is headed.
And glad they’ve made whatshisface, the Svengali controlling Layla, more evil again. Why did she forgive him and tell the cops there wasn’t a problem.
Still watching, still enjoying, but more for the soapiness than the music at this point. Glad they renewed it.
I am loving crazy Juliette. Everybody else I don’t care about. Especially Deacon, I hope the cliff hanger was his body rejecting the new liver, or better yet he lives but falls off the wagon again and destroys a second liver.
I wasn’t crazy about the mayor’s storyline. I was hoping he would have fled the country like they hinted at when he went and dug up his passport.
The music has really fallen off lately. Maybe one song per episode. That is sad.
I <3 this show. ![]()
Yup. Unless next season is definitely going to be the last, I just can’t see them killing Deacon off right now.
I try not to expect too much reality from my soap operas, but I really was surprised that we didn’t see him expend any effort to find out what exactly would happen to Highway 65 once the truth about the $2M came out. He seemed to immediately assume it would automatically be the end of the label…isn’t that something you’d look into, at least a little bit, if the alternative were prison??
Again with the reality/soap thing, but yeah I was very confused by that: Luke doesn’t strike me as stupid, and I was totally surprised when his only pushback was “I don’t want to steal you from Rayna.” Not “you have a legally binding contract with Rayna.”
I liked the song, too, but I am soooo tired of the Gunnar/Scarlett thing. I don’t care for either character, and frankly Scarlett’s wide-eyed-innocent crap and also the sound of her voice have annoyed the living crap out of me since day one (Clare Bowen’s natural speaking voice is much better, as is her singing voice when she’s just being herself and not adding a twang).
Seconded!!
I’m not. I was looking forward to seeing (relatively) sane Juliette the mom and wife, and seeing how her new priorities affected her songwriting and her career. I should have seen a PPD storyline coming, especially with her history, but I think it’s gotten too extreme. She better hit rock bottom and then get help FAST when the new season starts if I’m going to keep caring about that character at all.
Which reminds me that I love Jeff (he’s a total scumbag, but he’s unapologetic about it) but I’m also growing quite weary of Layla. She went through a phony marriage, a reality TV show, and a huge amount of negative press and she’s STILL this naive and desperate for love?? She and Scarlett should move to Portland together or something.
