When people parked in my spot, clearly labeled “reserved for resident unit 319,” I was really nice about it. I’d go out and wash their windshield.
Then I’d cover it with stickers.
It’s nice you very thoughtfully identified where you live (by the label on the parking spot), so that they could return the favor.
I assume your spot is not on the public way?
The note said “If I weren’t such A Good Christian, I’d firebomb your car right now. Park here again and I’ll kill you”.
Your point is generally right. But the point in this case that you’re missing is that the OP parked between a driveway and a corner. Let’s say there is a distance of 30 feet from edge of driveway to the corner (i.e., 30 feet of “parkable” space). If that whole 30 feet of space is available, a “parker” should either park with the front of the car within a few inches of the driveway or a few inches of the corner. The average car length is close to 15 feet, so two cars can fit in the total parkable space. If parker number one parks seven feet away from one of the boundaries with a 15-foot long car, he/she has effectively taken two “parking spots.” There’s some chance that two very small cars can park in front of and behind–but here in the US 7-8 foot long cars are rare.
Is it possible that you were parked in a restricted area and just did not notice the sign?
Or perhaps the street cleaner wasn’t quite done and was doing multiple loops, and they left the note?
Maybe it was a prank note?
Maybe it was left on someone else’s car, and they just moved it onto yours?
Try and tell the truth because you are anonymous: Do you consider yourself very conscientious ? I am guessing yes, because I have a theory that conscientious people are more likely to over-react to criticism.
Well, calling myself conscientious doesn’t seem particularly scandalous, anonymous or not. The answer is yes, I try to be. I often get irritated at people who are completely oblivious that there are other people in the world besides them, and because of that I try not to be that way.
If this person is just pissed that I had the nerve to park on his block, then I wouldn’t much care. What makes it rankle is the possibility (still uncertain as of this writing) that I might have actually been in the wrong by hogging two parking spaces. In that case, I would like the opportunity to apologize to those who were inconvenienced by my (alleged) carelessness. Not gonna happen, but I would feel better.
