Why is the US not participating with Europe in declaring Friday a national day of mourning?

Well, we did practically shut down the entire country on Tuesday. Our transportation, shipping, and communication systems are severely restricted since no aircraft are flying anywhere in the country. In New York City they are still hoping to rescue people. I guess we’re too busy keeping the country running under difficult circumstances to stop for an entire day. We have been having prayer vigils and the funerals will not doubt start soon.
Let’s just say we’re handling this in the way that seems best. We certainly appreciate the moral support from the rest of the world (certain dancing Palestinians excepted)
I think there’s already been two days of mourning, probably with more to follow.
