National flags upside down - by accident or ignorance

I had never noticed that the Union Jack is slightly asymmetrical before opening this thread, so I can quite understand that some people get it wrong. But what about a a newscast which counts as an institution on German TV (“Tagesthemen” broadcast by ARD, the oldest German TV station), getting the order of the stripes of the German flag wrong[sup]*[/sup]? I normally don’t give a shit about national symbols and thus wasn’t offended, but that was an embarrassment.

[sup]*[/sup] For reference, here’s the German national flag.

This is why Arkansas has its name on its flag. Only an illiterate person would think it should be upside down.

Also, what I was taught about flying the flag half-staff is not the same as what that article says. It is halfway down, or as low as the flag can go without being able to touch the ground, whichever is higher.

:stuck_out_tongue: N/M. Low fruit.

As has been mentioned on this board before, the US military wears the flag on the right arm with the stars in the upper right, so the flag is always advancing (assuming the person walks forward).
