National Missing Children's Day

When I was watching Good Morning America this morning they mentioned that today is National Missing Children’s Day.

May 25, 2007 marks the 25th National Missing Children’s Day. First proclaimed by President Ronald Reagan and observed by every administration since, May 25th is the anniversary of the day in 1979 when 6-year-old Etan Patz disappeared from a New York street corner on his way to school.

I had no idea that John Walsh’s child Adam was kidnapped and thats how he and his wife became so devoted to catching bad guys…

I must be getting old and forgetful, I knew about John Walsh, that’s actually a kind of a famous story, but for some reason the name Etan Patz reminds me of DesMoines, or West DesMoines. Must be right around that same time that a paperboy in WDM, IA was kidnapped, that’s the name I always associated.

Speaking of their milk carton, I’ve been looking around the NCMEC site this morning and apparently they are going to start improving the “Have You Seen Me?” flyers with bigger pics and color. It’s about time if you ask me.
