Nature Shows from the POV of Animals.

I watch a TON of nature shows, science shows and history documentaries. My DVR is basically 90% non-fiction with a smattering of shows or movies mixed in. One thing I’ve encountered twice so far, is nature shows that are told from the animal’s POV in the first person.

EX: “My name is Jumbo the elephant and this is my story.”

So far I’ve only come across two of them like this, one was * I think* Elephant Queen and the other was Wings of Life.

Does anyone else dislike this format? Both of the above shows I could only watch a few minutes before I had to turn it off.

Disney used to do this all the time – “Charlie the Lonesome Cougar”, “Jungle Cat”, and so on. They did the same thing in Disney comics about animals:

Each of the animal “biographies” in that comic are narrated by the animals.

I have this fantasy about the lemmings in Disney’s nature quasi-documentary White Wilderness literally saying “Screw Disney, I’m not jumping!”
