Orlando toughed it out against the Pacers last night, I was kinda worried since we didn’t have Suggs to stick on Haliburton, but we managed.
The Pistons actually played a good game last night, alas it was not enough and they now own the regular season losing streak all time record.
Pistons are tied 82-82 with Boston to start the fourth quarter.
The Pistons led the Celtics by 19 at halftime, and ended up losing by six in overtime.
The Pistons may never win again. They’ve now tied the 76ers for longest overall losing streak with 28 (the 76ers accomplished it across the end of one season and the beginning of another).
And the Celtics are a perfect 14-0 at home.
The Pacers’ Tyrese Haliburton scored 21 points to go with 20 assists as we beat the Bulls, 120-104.
And no turnovers, either. He was the second person since 1985 to pull off this combined feat.
The Pistons played their hearts out last night and pushed the Boston Celtics into overtime at home, where they are undefeated. If they had been playing this way from the start they’d be playoff bound.
Deeply regrettable that the Pistons couldn’t have beaten the Celtics on their home court. The mockery of Boston would have been epic.
It’s interesting that a 28-game losing streak gets just as many viewers and ratings as a 28-game winning streak. Every game feels like a Game Seven. And every opponent is bringing their A-game against Detroit because they don’t want to become the laughingstock.
At least the Pistons are taking some unwanted attention away from my 5-25 Spurs…
Yeah, nobody wants to be the one that loses to Detroit. This just makes their job so much harder. They’ve actually played well the last couple games.
Strange that in a season in which the perpetual laughingstock Detroit Lions have won their first division championship in 30 years, that the three-time former NBA champion Pistons would be struggling so mightily.
Toronto Raptors needed to stir things up somehow. They surprise by trading away OG, Precious and Malakai. On the whole, it seems a decent trade to me. They get Barrett who is Canadian and played well at FIBA (but whom Knock fans seem to think is overrated), and IQ who has a strong future. And a second round draft pick, which could bake a difference next year because this won’t be their year.
Thoughts on the Toronna trade?
Well, the Pistons finally won one over the short handed Raptors (they traded several players today) in a squeaker. Well done, I hope they can do a bit better now without that hanging over their heads. As far as the trade goes it seems the Raptors got the better end of the deal IMO.
I turned it on at the end. Pistons looked massively relieved, although this was a close game again. The pistons seem to struggle holding teams under 110 points.
Remember when the 2003-2004 Pistons held 11 teams under 70 points in the season, including five-in-a-row?
30 points were scores in the final 1-minute of the Pistons game. Wow.
That is impressive. Haliburton is a legit superstar.
A weird thing happened in the last T-wolves game against the Lakers. A couple of minutes before halftime, coach sent in a replacement for Edwards, not wanting him to pick up a fourth foul right before the break, and Edwards refused to come out! WTF? I’m betting the coach was some kinda pissed, but he’s not made any comments about it. They were lucky to pull off a 2-point win, but did a good job keeping James from scoring before time ran out.
Pacers beat the Bucks for the third time in the four games they’ve played, and are now guaranteed to win the season series against them, with only one game left to play, in two days.
T-wolves played their worst game of the season, losing to the Knicks. Terrible ball control, run-and-gun offense, and slipshod defense. Finch needs to have a come to Jesus meeting with these idiots.
