The player that killed the Cavs last was…LeBron James. Maybe he’s hurt. Can’t understand why else he’d back down Stephen Curry 1 on 1 in the post only to kick it out to Shumpert.
Green was just suspended for game 5, for reaching out to Lebron’s naughty bits.
Green has been playing great defense against LeBron, so this could help the Cavs to survive for a game six. But then they’ll lose in Oakland. Oh well.
Game 6 is in Cleveland, right? So maybe the Cavs can win game 5 since green is out, game 6 at home, and have some chance in game 7. Still seems pretty far fetched.
With Green out, I’d give the Cavs around a 50/50 chance to take game 5. But their chance to win the series is still essentially zero.
I wonder if Minnesota will let Cleveland have a do-over and trade Wiggins for Love this offseason?
The Cavs gotta be thinking of sending somebody to rile up Green. Poke him, pull him, push him, call him names, they have plenty of warm bodies to ensure he gets another tech and suspension.
What do we think of the Cavs chances? Pretty slim, but they’ve gotta be favored going back home, and then they’ve proven they can win away… at least 25%?
Sounds like the kind of job for Dahntay Jones, also suspended for a game in these playoffs for hitting a player in the groin area.
I’m hearing Bogut is likely out for GS. Not that it matters, he’s been playing 5 -7 minutes a game in the finals so far.
I think that is a little generous to be honest. It took an impressive night by both Kyrie and Lebron on top of Green being suspended on top of Curry not really playing all that well to win game 5. They are still trying to do something that has never been done against a way better team. I’d say maybe 10% chance right now, 25% if they do win game 6.
Yeah, I don’t think I’d make the Cavs favorites for game 6. It’s close, and it wouldn’t be too surprising for them to win, but if forced to pick I’ll take GS. In a game 7 GS should be pretty heavy favorites.
The game 6 line is CLE -2.5, which I can’t believe. I’m rooting for the Cavs, but I’d put my money on GS.
Cavs are really determined tonight.
Wow 31-11.
But momentum doesn’t mean much. Cavs won by 30 in Game 3 but lost Game 4.
The second foul call on Curry was hilarious, but they could have had peak Bill Russell out there and it wouldn’t have helped them at this point. Time to watch some soccer.
(With this game on the laptop, of course. Thanks, 2016.)
The Warriors at their best is better than Cleveland at their best, but not by much. And if it goes down to a game 7, then we have a series is reduced to one or two players who could just have a bad night of shooting. I think it’s fair to say that the suspension of Green has potentially changed the complexion of the series. Game 5 was a waste, and I think now the Warriors come into Cleveland feeling uncomfortable and tentative, and losing Bogut means lost depth. Let’s not forget too that Green still is one technical foul away from another suspension.
They’ve been making a big deal about how out of the 32 teams to go down 3-1, only 2 even forced a game 7.
I don’t think the Cavs have less than a 40% chance of winning the series. They’re playing with drive.
Even if Dubs win on Sunday, Lebron deserves the MVP. He has been far and away the best player in this series.
The Warriors are clearly rattled right now. They found a way to regain their composure after going down 3-1 to OKC, and they only have one more to win in this series. But Cleveland has definitely been better at using their raw physical strength and size advantage to block the passing lanes. The Warriors were doing a good job of beating the Cavs up court and hitting those ridiculous outside shots in the first few games. They’ll need to revert to form in game 7.
In any case, I think it’s safe to say that despite compiling a regular season record 73 wins, the Warriors can’t quite be put in the same class as the Chicago Bulls of 1996. I’d also say the 2014 Spurs team was better than this year’s Warriors. Still, if they could win back-to-back titles, that would be impressive.
So if the warriors win, and Lebron will be a scrub who can only get to the finals and lose because there’s no one in the East.
If Cleveland wins, then the team with the greatest regular season record with all sorts of scoring records and unanimous MVPs were a bunch of nobodies, because LeBron can’t beat anyone, therefore, if you’re beaten by LeBron, you aren’t anyone.
He should win finals MVP even if they lose. He’s the best player on offense and defense on either team, and is basically leading in every stat category.
Really, though, the hype stakes are pretty high on this one. Either GS wins and they’ve got a decent argument for the greatest season ever, or Cleveland wins and they have a finals comeback no one could pull off in history, LeBron makes a good case for greatest of all time (a single game shouldn’t really matter that much, but it will to the public) as well as the legacy of being the first Cleveland team to pull in a championship since the Magna Carta. Some high stakes shit here.
