NBC promos ruined Law & Order for me tonight!!!!!

Man, I am so angry at whoever puts together the NBC promos! I was watching Ed tonight on NBC and during one of the commercial breaks, they had a commercial for Law & Order. In the commercial, they said something along the lines of “A rich man is murdered. Who is the killer - his wife or his daughter?” I’m paraphrasing, but that’s pretty much it.

Okay, here’s the problem. This is an hour long show. The wife was not a suspect until thirty minutes into it. I’m thinking, ask the wife, don’t trust the wife, it’s the wife. Okay, that’s bad enough. But the daughter wasn’t treated as a suspect until fifty minutes into the show! Criminy!

And the worst part was, this seemed like a really well thought out, intricately constructed episode that I totally would have been into if not for this stupid piece of shit commercial.

I gues this means I need to turn down my television’s sound each time commercials come on NBC.

Hey! I’m on west coast. Look who ruined it for me!

I mean:

Well, I haven’t seen it yet, but i have to ask, what do y’all think of the new assistant DA?

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS turn off L&O previews. ALWAYS. They give away the plot every single time and it’s really quite annoying. Thankfully I’ve only had to worry about this in the last few years since the vast majority of the episodes I caught on A&E syndication. When I started watching them regularly on NBC I was shocked at how they routinely screwed me out of needing to watch the first 30 minutes of every episode.
Thing was, I didn’t need to watch the previews tonight to know who the suspect would be. You don’t throw a recognizable actress like Cathy Moriarty into a bit role unless you want to throw the viewers for a loop or she’s REALLY desperate for work.

As for the new ADA, um…I dunno. It took me awhile to get used to Angie Harmon’s throaty voice but I really grew to like her. I still don’t like Elisabeth Rohm though. I don’t think she has the “look” of an ADA and she hasn’t been too believable when trying to get tough. I’ll give it a bit of time though.

Yeah, I liked Angie Harmon. I’m trying to be objective about this new chick but she doesn’t do intense too well.

BTW, it’s recently come to my attention that I apparently missed an entire season of episodes or else I blocked an ADA out of my mind–was there one who was killed in a car crash? I only remember the guys, the girl who’s on Crossing Jordon now, and the one with the really short brown hair and blue eyes. Was there really another one?

Sorry for the spoiler, Violet. I should’ve put “spoiler” in the title of the thread. Probably too little, too late, but could a mod add that to the title please?

I got home early tonight. I saw the promo.
Thank you, Pezwookiee.
There are others who feel the same way.

The girl on Crossing Jordan, Jill Hennessy, was the one that was injured in the car crash. I’m pretty sure she was just seriously injured rather than killed off.

Oh, never mind, I just checked and the Claire Kincaid character played by Jill Hennessy was killed off. In case anyone wants to know, Angie Harmon left the show to get married and pursue other acting opportunities (from http://www.orderandlaw.tvheaven.com/retiredordercast.html). I’ll give this new ADA a chance, but she didn’t look too good tonight, IMHO.

The Homicide: Life on the Streets crossover episode a couple of seasons ago, the one which featured a Ken Starr-esque Independent Counsel who tried to slam McCoy into prison, made it clear that Claire Kincaid was dead. Serious fans knew this to be true almost immediately after the storyline; producers said so in a panel discussion that they took part in at the Museum of Television & Radio that summer.

I’m slightly obsessive about L&O!

Just a little fun L&O trivia - when Jill Hennessy was the ADA, her twin sister, Jacqueline (who is also an actress) would sometimes stand in for her in some scenes

Ah, ok. Thanks for clearing that up. My coworkers were trying to convince me that it wasn’t Claire Kincaid that was killed, that there was some other ADA that I mysteriously had never seen. Glad to know I don’t have early alzheimers.

Actually, I don’t like the new ADA that much either – she doesn’t seem all that believable. But I figure, given the track record for ADAs, she’ll be on for two seasons at the most…
