Juh? The show bothers you because she’s quirky and skinny at the same time?
Please tell me this is not true, because if it is, there’s someone I have to kill and I cannot be stopped.

My DVR’ing of The Office always catches the ending bumper of Whitney and from the 45- or so seconds I see each week, I can’t imagine watching the entire half hour. It just looks so God-awful, mainly because of her.
That would be Barry Katz. He also brought up Dave Chappelle and Jay Mohr.
I thought the playing basketball bit from two weeks back was really hot. But I’m really strange. The only likeable and fleshed out character in Whitney is the boyfriend. the rest are cardboard cut outs.
Two Broke Girls is awful. Only Garret Morris is interesting, and only because they give him so few lines.
Prime Suspect was cancelled yesterday. I think I saw the news at Deadline Hollywood.
Shit. Guess I have to kill somebody then. Love Chapelle, ambivalent toward Mohr who has his moments but can also be awful, but he’s forced Dane Cook on us, for which he must be killed. No redeeming act will save his life.
Why on earth did you have you compare all this new sit com drivel to a timeless classic. I loved Alf!
ALF: “Putting humans in charge of the earth is the cosmic equivalent of letting Eddie Murphy direct.”
I find Whitney to be terribly unfunny. Part of it is Whitney’s delivery, but she’s also delivering crap, so I don’t know if it would be any better if she were a good comic actress.
From the previews that showed throughout the summer I didn’t think the show would be worth much. But, I decided to give it a chance because it was a part of the Thursday night lineup that I enjoy, and I enjoyed the first episode of 2 Broke Girls, and saw that she created that as well. Whitney ended up being a lot worse than I expected.
I can see why people would hate Two Broke Girls. They do a lot wrong. The ethnic sterotypes, the seemingly constant rape jokes, the picture of Brooklyn that has to be 20 years out of date, the irritating smile Kat Denning gives after every joke, and well plenty of other small things. In spite of this litany of complaints I still enjoy the show. I think the blonde is really funny, and although I loved Kat Dennings in everything else I have seen her in I don’t think she has been great in this, but I do have high hopes that she will improve. And, I think she does have good comic chemistry with the blonde, so I think things could really improve. The relationship between the two of them is fun enough to override all the faults, for now. I just hope the writers realize how stupid some parts of the show are, and fix them, while keeping the great parts intact.
I have never heard of Barry Katz before. But, even without bringing bad comics fame he is a satan for having a web page with copyright 2009, and a message that “MORE COMING SOON!” When is “soon”, Barry? WHEN?!?
Other than the writing and the acting, I kind of enjoy it.
Great scenery? Costumes?
There was a kitten in the one episode I sat through.
Same here. Is the boyfriend supposed to be homeless or something? He always looks like he just crawled out of a dumpster.
Or maybe he’s just prescient about his career future and wants to adopt an appropriate look.
I saw about 30 seconds of the show. She was out on a date with her boyfriend and he looked at some girl’s ass and you think he would have kicked a kitten or something, the way she reacted.
That was pretty much all I needed to see.
I wish. Then it would have better acting and writing. As well as more believable story situations. ![]()
He is supposed to be a photographer or something, so I think the look was meant to be “arty”. To me, he looks like he just woke up from a “Lost Weekend”-esque bender.
Whitney’s a photographer, the boyfriend is a guy who sold a website and now doesn’t have to work.
FWIW, Whitney’s getting moved over to Wednesday’s in the same schedule shuffle that’s putting Community on hiatus.
Eh, if you saw him on the street, he’d just look like any other dude. Actually, he’d be one of the better looking guys out and about. I think our expectations about how people should look on television are artificially enhanced.
I have to say, I do enjoy the actor that plays the boyfriend. First saw him in the Comedy Central show “Workaholics” as a charming pedophile.
I kind of liked it.
Better than Whitney, anyhow.
Also, I watched Prime Suspect last night and liked it. Better (if not more believeable) than most cop shows. And she didn’t wear that horrible hat.
My wife and I absolutely loved it too. So campy and clueless, they all were!
