As well, according to that story, the kid had a friend record the teacher because her rant was part of a pattern.
She’s been suspended with pay.
A similar thing happened to me around the time of the 2008 elections. I was doing a City Year in Boston (which explained a lot) and we took a day off of work and training to have everyone share their thoughts about the election (seriously). When I stood up and voiced my reservations about Obama (whom, for the record, I did end up voting for), namely that the conversation around him seemed to focus more on the unprecedented nature of his campaign rather than his actual political acumen, one of the leaders of the organization pretty much struck me down, saying that I “shouldn’t doubt Obama” because he’s “got confidence” and apparently not much else.
I hate that people in my country get so fucking stupid about politics. Can I pit them?

It’s an unfortunate fact that any Presidential candidate who only attracts intelligent, articulate voters will lose in the bloodiest landslide history has ever seen.

How the hell is that punishment. Spout stupid shit and show that you’re not fit to teach and the best thing they can come up with is, “Well, let’s pay her not to teach.” Fuck. If that’s a good idea that should be her a million dollars not to teach. What a fucked up system. And how does this happen? I’m goon go way out on a limb and say that it has to do with something that start’s with “her u” and ends with “nion”.
One more reason why our schools need to be rid of that plague.

They’ve suspended her with pay WHILE THEY CONDUCT AN INVESTIGATION, you fucking dolt. It’s pretty standard practice in plenty of workplaces, especially state workplaces. It happens to cops all the time.

The investigation should take no more than a couple of days. All they have to do is listen to the tape that was released, then ask the students present in the class whether there was any context at all that could mitigate the idiocy of the teacher (like, if she said “For the next 15 minutes I am going to pretend to be an idiot, to teach you what an idiotic argument sounds like”). If there wasn’t, she should be fired.
What will happen instead, I bet, is she will continue be on paid vacation for a couple of months, until the media forgets about all this, and then quietly reinstated.

Two weeks pay and a “don’t let the door hit you in the ass” on the way out. If she wants to be a teacher so fucking bad let her go educate herself first.
Now that would be instructive for kids and teachers so stupid it’s a wonder they manage to find the school they work at every day.
