(though if that Batista shot went in at the end it’d be up there with the Laettner shot… too bad it wasn’t even remotely close)
Wow wow wow wow wow. Even before Duke lost, my chances at winning this pool were nil- but what a couple of games! Texas-WVU with the pair of threes, and UCLA with this ferocious comeback and win on that steal… I’ve never seen two finishes like that back-to-back. Damn, I love this tournament.
Nice try Gonzaga; you nearly proved me wrong. Seth Davis, eat your words once again.
What a great game! I figured if it came down to a bang it inside physical game, defense and shot blocking, LSU would win. If it came down to a shooter’s gallery, I was not so confident. It worked out like I hoped. Poor free-throw shooting for most of the game and mishandling the ball on LSU’s part kept me in fits. It could have been over a lot sooner if not for that.
I went 4 for 4 last night, so that side of my bracket is looking great. I like LSU’s chances over Texas. I think they match up better against a team where they can use their defensive strengths and shot-blocking, as opposed to trying to defend the long-range bombers that West Virginia would have brought (although LSU did already beat West Virginia earlier in the season).
I didn’t really have a read on UCLA/Gonzaga. Basically a coin flip that I happened to call right. I think Memphis/UCLA will be a good game.
For the other side of the bracket I’ve got UCON, Florida, and BC going to the Elite 8, so that’s who I’m pulling for tonight.
