I imagine many of you are filling out (or have already filled out) brackets for this years NCAA March Madness tournament.
I’m managing a bracket on sportsline, and am curious as to how different pools have set up the scoring system. I want to make sure mine seems fair. One thing I do know is that I want to “add the seed” in terms of points, to reward upsets, so at this point, I’ve got:
Round 1 4 pts + add seed
Round 2 8 pts + add seed
Round 3 12 pts + add seed
Round 4 18 pts + add seed
Round 5 27 pts + add seed
Round 6 40 pts + add seed
Does anyone see anything wrong with this? What else are people using?
Thanks!
Hey TheBoneyKingofNowhere. My own pool is set up similarly. I give an add seed bonus up until the last two rounds, in which I use the mulitply seed effect. I love forcing people to pick more upsets, makes it much more fun.
Rancid
Multipy meaning seed x the points you’re using for the last two rounds? What are your pts per round?
I use the same number of point per round. I can’t remember the exact number at this time. I look at it this way. You get “y” number of points for the correct pick, but add the seed or multiply it depending on the round. Times the seed number means take the number of points for that game and multiply it by the seed you chose to win the game. If you got two points for that particular game and you chose the #8 seed let’s say, you would get 16 points for that game alone.
Clear as mud, right?
