Need a cat-proof plant

Ok, so I just switched rooms in my house. (One of my housemates left the state to go work elsewhere; his room was nicer; his room was vacant; his room is now mine. Muhahahahahahacoughcoughahem) My new room has a nice, big, east-facing bay-window with a large flat ledge, which just seems… nekkid. So I need some plants. But I am clueless about most things leafy.

The requirements:
1.) Low-maintainence. I’m pretty forgetful about watering, etc. :smack:
2.) Hardy. At night, when I close the blinds, I am sure the sill gets down into the 50’s or even 40’s.
3.) Cat-Proof. Another housemate has a cat* who likes to explore my room. I would prefer to not have to replace plants that have been mistaken for a kitty salad bar.

Bonus Points:
1.) Something I can use (herbs).
2.) Something that occasionally flowers.

So, whacha got for me? Ideas? Suggestions?

*I know, I know. This is my second post referencing the kitty, and no pics. I’m an evil bastard. I promise I will take some pictures on the next roll. :stuck_out_tongue:

Snake plant.

Golden Barrel Cactus

I agree with Snake Plant, my cats leave mine alone. I have some Snake Plants that are over 20 years old, and they take a lot of abuse. Jade Plants are aslo good; cats don’t seem to like chewing on the thicker leaves. Both will flower under the right conditions, but those are not usually met indoors (IME).

Cactus are not that good around cats; true they will not chew on them, but IME cat fur will get stuck on the spines if the cat brushes by it. I got rid of my cactus- it was all furry.
