Need a good computer microphone

I’m using a $7.00 microphone to talk to my gps program running on my laptop. It can hear and understand me just fine (voice commands like “Center Map”, “What Is My Next Turn”, etc), unless I actually turn on my car and start moving. At that point, there’s just too much background noise (road, wind, engine, etc) for it to hear me.

I’ve fabricated a foam sleeve to cover the mic, in the hopes that it will cut down on background noise, but… no dice.

I’m not looking to break the bank, but what microphones would you recommend that might work for me?

Hi, I use THIS and it works wonderfully. I’m not sure if $53 is out of the price range you’re looking for.

This guy sells mikes for Speech Recognition, has reviews of various models.
He seems well regarded on the Dragon BBS at ScanSoft.
