1937 Painting by Peter Blume.
My Google-foo is weak today, and probably ill-placed as I have no reason to suspect such a thing even exists. But there’s all sorts of stuff out there in the nets so … maybe.
I just have a need today to do a nose-close study of a work that invites, requires, such scrutiny. And I can’t find anything with enough detail to let me see what’s going on in the various scenes. If it’s not online, I don’t suppose anyone in NYC could scootch on over to MOMA and sneak a snap for me? I just know that if I stick this in front of my youngest (the painter in the family) she can render a modern interpretation for the USA–purely as a thought experiment, of course.
More broadly, and back to my 1st paragraph. Can anyone point me to a site (even a pay to play) where one can get access to museum pieces like this? I mean, I’d love to wander around the Louvre and get lost in Mona’s brush strokes, but that trip is just not in the budget. However, if I could bring her up on my 27 inch monitor that might be the next best thing.
