We have been having problems with our current web host. They froze the account without notifying us because of unexpectedly high traffic. We need a good web host that will let us use PHP and MySQL, and won’t be jerks about our client’s sites if we should get more traffic than expected. Any suggestions?
Dreamhost. Best I’ve ever seen, with superb customer service too.
I had a massive bandwidth spike when a large image I host got picked up by the B3TA newsletter, and there wasn’t an issue.
I use DreamHost as well. They have excellent pricing and generous plans, but if they’re the best, the world of web hosting is in dire straits. Service outages and slowdowns have been less frequent this year than in the past, but I still would not recommend them for anyone doing business hosting. My 2-year contract comes up in December and I am really hoping I can both find a better host and the time to move everything over between Christmas and New Year’s.
Since the OP needs informed opinions, let’s move this to IMHO.

Thanks, samclem. I don’t always think of the subtle distinction between GQ and IMHO when I post.
I had www.hostmonster.com recommended to me. So far it’s been un-fault-able.
Do you have business clients that have large bandwidth demands? Our client is going to have a show on TNT, and we need to have really expandable bandwidth, along with the other stuff.
Sorry, no. But hostmonster offers dedicated IPs which I presume would go some way to helping in that area. But I don’t know how good they would be for high bandwidth.
