Basically, I’ve had a website for the last ten years and the webhosting compnay was sold to another company. Rather than trying to understand all the new procedures, perhaps it is easier just to change webhosts.
Anyway, any suggestions for a good webhosting company?
Thanks.
If you want a private tomcat for java web development http://www.dailyrazor.com/ works great. They offer other stuff too but I haven’t tried it.
I use hostmonster and have had no problems at all.
I’ve heard good things about Dreamhost, and was planning to move my site to them in the next couple of weeks.
I couldn’t be happier with TMD Hosting Lots of freedom if I want it and if I have any problem the support is very quick and helpful.
I also use hostmonster. Don’t bother with their ftp though, use filezilla or such and save some headaches.
I cannot possibly recommend Dreamhost enough. They’ve always been extremely helpful, they’re fairly cheap and I’ve never experienced any problems with downtime or slowness that I’ve noticed.
www.drak.net. I’ve been with them for a decade; best host ever. Jen (the owner) really knows her stuff and if you need support she’s usually the one answering your email.
And if you’re into that sort of thing, it’s a woman-owned progressive business who regularly makes Kiva loans from the company’s coffers.
Thanks for the replies so far (and if anyone else wants to post, then please do).
The new company should be operating in a few days and so I’ll get a better idea of their webhosting abilities. Who knows? They might be the greatest webhost on the planet. But if not, I’m glad I’ve got a few alternatives from which to choose.
Thanks all.
Hostgator - 24 hrs online support, a good price, usually with the most updated PHP, MySQL, and you can even apply for SSH.
