You know this person’s Social Security Number but don’t have their address or telephone number?

Something doesn’t sound right, here.

Why do you want to find them? Maybe they don’t want to be found.

If they’ve died, you can learn a little about them from the Social Security Death Index online.

I’ve told you before and I’ll say it again: even if you find me I am not submitting to a paternity test! So leave me alone already!

You could try

Violet,
Thanks for your reply, I looked there…No go…To all that don’t understand, this person owes me money!!!

Either hire a Bounty Hunter or maybe try running a search in Teoma, its the newest best search engine, and is the bomb, just like me, peace out

How much money? It may well not be worth the search, but if it is, there are ways to get them if you have their SSN. Do you have a lawyer?

If you’ve already put the person’s name and other information through the available search engines and have come up with nothing, then I think that you’ll probably not being able to get much of anything without paying for it.

There are several online services that offer background checks and other types of searches for a fee. There are some that offer address information from PO Box, etc. I’d link to some of them, but I’m not sure if that’s something that the moderators would find appropriate. So, you could just enter the terms “background search” into any search engine and read what the listed companies have to offer. Just be sure to investigate the sites as much as you can and perhaps you’ll find one that offers a “no hit/no fee” type of deal.

Hope this helps.

FWIW: If the person owes you money, you might be able to file a small claims court case against him/her. There may be some way to get their valid address that way. Another thought: send the person a letter to their P.O. box telling them you plan to sue. Just in case they moved, notate the envelope with “Return Address Requested” per http://www.usps.com/ncsc/products/ancillary.htm

If the person owns real estate, their address would usually be a matter of public record.

I don’t know what you plan to do once you have this information. A stack of angry letters won’t make someone pay a debt. Assuming you have honest and legal intentions, you can …

  1. Sell the debt to a collection agency.
  2. Hire a private investigator to run a skip trace and then serve them with court papers.
  3. Pay an address verification service to run the SSN for a work and home address.
  4. In the unlikely event that this person is a voter, run down to your local library or town clerk’s office and check the voter rolls for a legal address.

Thanks for all your help. I am looking into each suggestion. Thanks Alot!!

Crystal

I did collection work for a while, and skip-tracing was part of what we did.

First, use the post office. If you have the last known street address, send something and clearly mark it “Do not Forward”. It should come back to you with a forwarding address if they left one (I tracked someone all over Nashville this way, and finally got our money from them).

Have you tried calling information for the city they live in or that you think they live in? That was usually the best place to start, just in case they listed a phone in their own name.

Finally, do you know any parents/relatives names or phone numbers? If you do, call them, but don’t tell them why you are calling, just that you’re trying to get in touch with them. If you are collecting on behalf of a business and they ask where you are calling from, you have to tell them the name of your business, but I do not believe that you can tell them about the debt. If it’s just a personal debt, just see if they’ll tell you how to get in touch with them.
