Need dishwasher advice

Another minority here, after the last DW broke down we junked it then continued washing dishes by hand. It’s quicker to wash everything up and let it air dry.

For those of you who wash by hand, all the “experts” I’ve consulted claim that dishwashers use less water than hand washing. Does anyone know if this is really true?
