A good friend is staying there and I need to get an important message to her.All I know is that she is staying at a real nunnery or a hotel called the Nunnery, or something like that.
She just got there and I don’t expect her to call again soon. She did not have reservations so it would be hotel-like. I’ve tried the internet with no luck. I’ve even called a couple of hotels there and asked if they knew of a place fitting this description - no luck there either. I called the mother of her travel companion who independantly confirmed that they were staying in a “nunnery” but had no further info.
Help!
Go to http://www.google.com
In the Search field, type: nunnery + san miguel allende
You’ll find some hints there.
Like I said -tried that. Lots of ‘hints’ on Google. Lots of Nunnery history and photos. I need a phone #. I know there is one - she called me from there. And will be staying there for 2 weeks. But it’s important that I get in touch with her ASAP. Need to get important info to her about her family.
Thanks though, I appreciate your help.
Los Ensueños de San Miguel vacation rentals tel: 011-52-4-152-8330. This may or may not be the place but I’ll bet someone at this number would be willing to help if you explain the situation to them. Good lick.
That would be “good luck”!
This might sound stupid, but if it’s truly an emergency, could the phone company trace the number that your friend called you from? I’m only assuming that you live in the US, so it would show up as an international call?
Sorry if this is bad advice, but good luck.

San Miguel de Allende, GTO …right?
The number for the US consulate is given as 011+52+415+2-23-57 on this page (hard read), and as both 011+52+415+2-23-57 and 011-52-4152-2347 on this page (easier read.)
The second link lists the San Miguel Tourist Office number as (4) 152-6565 (from the USA, 011+52+415+2-65-65.)
One of these may be able to give you the number for the Convent of La Concepción, which I think is the nunnery that you’re referring to. If not, they may be able to give you cross streets, and a travel guide may give you the number.
The convent may accept guests, but I wonder if you misheard your friend. She may be staying at a hotel near the convent. In any case, the same stuff aplies.
Keep in mind that the closest I’ve been to there is changing buses in Guadalahara, and my Spanish is so bad that the porters gave up and spoke in English…
FYI-
…though I assume that everyone in San Miguel has heard of the convent.
You see? I can’t even spell in Spanish!
