I have a document that is currently in WordPerfect that I need to convert to Word.
I have gotten the main part of the document to convert ok (using Word’s built-in conversion function)…the formatting is just fine. The problem is that the original document contains formulas that perform calculations, and they did not carry over to the converted document.
Any Dopers have an idea how I can accomplish a successful conversion, and preserve the formulas?
Thanks!
You could try this
Not sure how well it handles formulas, but worth a shot.
I don’t have any experience with formulas, but I know that as a general rule you will get a better WP to Word conversion by using WordPerfect’s “Save As” tool rather than Word’s conversion tools.
I agree with Fat Bald Guy. Using the WordPerfect “Save As” is much better than Word’s tools. Since I use WP mostly, if asked for a Word file, I counter by asking if I can send a *.pdf file instead. This way I can keep all the nice desktop publishing used in WP. Unfortunately I have not had much luck converting formulas into Word.
Thanks for all the suggestions so far. I’m going to try it all until something works.
The document I need to convert contains a LOT of formulas, so converting rather than re-entering is the best choice if at all possible. (If I even really knew how to go about re-entering everything that’s there…Word doesn’t seem to like everything that WP likes).
PDF is probably not the best for this situation, unfortunetely. What I need is to put this document on a flash drive so I can take it with me and use it in my client’s offices if need be. Almost everyone has Word on their systems, but not WP. And since all my clients are in the financial industry, they are highly restricted as to what they can download or use on their computers. So even Acrobat Reader is out
