Need help disgnosing 2003 Server problem

I have an OLD Proliane 1600. The system shipped as a single cpu syustem but I added a second processor card to it. I was able to run the install of 2003 Server Trial edition and have the OS install successfully (I believe)

After the second reboot which should cause the systgem to come up I get the 2003 splash screen then a very short BSOD screen that then causes the system to reboot so I can not see the error.

Any suggestions how how to get the syystem to not reboot so I can find out the error code?

Your Compaq Proliant 1600 is a dual P2-266. This is likely below minimum spec. Further, Windows Server 2003 may use P3 specific code. Check the HCL.

Well, in XP with Service Pack 2, the boot menu (press F8 on start) has an entry to turn off reboot on blue-screen (it should be that way by default IMHO, but anyhow). I don’t know if 2003 is similar, or if you can even get there (if there’s a problem with the HAL, then perhaps not), but there’s my $0.02.

No, this is not a dual P2-266 It it a Dual P-III 500 I found the system specs and it is only supported to 2000 Server. I’ll have to look for a trial copy of that.

Hmm… must have mis-Googled. Sorry about that.

As it’s a P3, WS2003 should work just fine - I’ve got it running on P3-450s
