I have to send some prescription meds to my nephew in Vietnam. They are Lithium, Seroquel, and Zolpidem. Does anyone have a recommendation for which mailing company (FedEx, UPS, Tiger Direct, or USPS) would be best for sending it with the best chance of safe arrival?
Has anyone had success with courier services? Would there be a problem carrying someone else’s meds?
Thanks in advance.
Don’t have an answer, just wanted to say “Good Luck.” It sounds serious.
As far as I know, you can’t (legally) send prescription medications into a foreign country. The idea is that a traveller can bring meds with them if they carry a prescription as well and if they run out overseas they go to a local Doctor and can show an overseas prescription to help them get what they need.
Your nephew needs to see a local Doctor and if necessary get something faxed or emailed from his Doctor in his home country to get replacements, this is safer (and faster) than trying to get something through customs with a courier.
I’ve been in the almost same situation, showed an Australian prescription to a Doctor in japan and got what I needed no problems and yes in the bigger cities in Vietnam you should be able to obtain those drugs locally.
